Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common neuromuscular disorder in children, and children with CP are at increased risk of respiratory distress potentially requiring tracheostomy placement. Previous studies have characterized indications for tracheostomy in neurologically compromised children, however no studies focus specifically on children with CP. The purpose of this study was to identify the indications for tracheostomy placement, sites of airway obstruction, and rate of decannulation in children with CP.

To compare the efficacy of surgical treatment in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) involving a standalone modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (mUPPP) and radiofrequency coblation inferior turbinoplasty with mUPPP. In this study, a retrospective analysis of 79 OSAHS patients with inferior turbinate hypertrophy and oropharyngeal obstruction undergoing surgical treatment was performed. According to the different surgical methods, the patients were divided into 2 groups (Group A and Group B).

Objective: Prophylactic ligation of the external carotid artery (ECA) during oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) resection is known to reduce severe postoperative oropharyngeal bleeding events, however, there is limited research on whether bleed rates vary between selective ligation of individual vessels or total ligation of the ECA. This study assesses outcomes related to total versus selective ligation of the ECA in patients who underwent transoral resection for OPSCC of the base of tongue or palatine tonsils.
