Objective: This study aimed to introduce and evaluate a novel software-based system, BioTrace, designed for real-time monitoring of thermal ablation tissue damage during image-guided radiofrequency ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: BioTrace utilizes a proprietary algorithm to analyze the temporo-spatial behavior of thermal gas bubble activity during ablation, as seen in conventional B-mode ultrasound imaging. Its predictive accuracy was assessed by comparing the ablation zones it predicted with those annotated by radiologists using contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) 24 hours post-treatment, considered the gold standard.

Background: Radiofrequency ablation guided by ultrasound (RFA-USG) is an alternative treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) patients. Despite showing accurate precision and minimal invasion, its efficacy remains questionable.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Portal Regional da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), Web of Science databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies evaluating RFA-USG in PHPT patients.

Background: The association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the risk of developing atrial fibrillation (AF) is well-established. However, data on the impact of RA on AF recurrence postcatheter ablation (CA) remain unclear. This current study aimed to assess the impact of RA on AF recurrence after catheter-based pulmonary vein isolation.

January 2025

Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Victoria Rey Clinic, Loyola University, Seville, Spain.

Objective: To evaluate pregnancy outcomes after transvaginal radiofrequency ablation of leiomyomas.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of the medical records of 226 pregnant patients after transvaginal radiofrequency ablation of leiomyomas from January 1, 2017, to February 28, 2022.

Results: Patients' mean age was 37.
