Meningiomas are the most common type of benign tumor found in the brain and are typically benign, slow-growing lesions. The current standard of care consists of surgical resection and subsequent postoperative radiotherapy to prevent local recurrence. Because of their indolent nature, meningiomas are rarely found to spread extracranially and develop distant metastases. We present the clinical, imaging, and pathologic features of a patient who had meningioma with multiple local recurrences, who was incidentally found to have metastatic disease in the lungs. In addition, we discuss details of this case in the context of the previously reported literature.

Purpose: To determine whether renal cell carcinoma metastases (RCC-Mets) to the pancreas can be differentiated from pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) in patients with RCC on CT or MRI at presentation.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients with biopsy-proven RCC-Mets (n = 102) or PNETs (n = 32) at diagnosis or after nephrectomy for RCC. Inter-observer agreement (Cohen kappa) was assessed in 95 patients with independent reads by two radiologists, with discrepancies resolved by consensus for final analysis.

This study evaluated the diagnostic value of the automated UF-5000 parameters and compared it with that of aberrant erythrocytes and acanthocytes classified by microscopy for identifying IgA glomerular hematuria to propose a predictive model for clinical use. It also compared correlations between erythrocyte parameters and malformed erythrocytes. Urine samples from 53 biopsy-proven IgA hematuria cases and 143 non-IGA nephropathic hematuria cases as controls were analyzed.

Background: Despite the proven efficacy of evidence-based healthcare interventions in reducing adverse outcomes and mortality associated with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), a vast majority of affected individuals in Africa remain deprived of such care. Hydroxyurea (HU) utilization among SCD patients in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) stands at less than 1%, while in Nigeria, approximately 13% of patients benefit from HU therapy. To enhance HU utilization, targeted implementation strategies addressing provider-level barriers are imperative.

Accurate detection of abnormal cervical cells in cervical cancer screening increases the chances of timely treatment. The vigorous development of deep learning methods has established a new ecosystem for cervical cancer screening, which has been proven to effectively improve efficiency and accuracy of cell detection in many studies. Although many contributing studies have been conducted, limited public datasets and time-consuming collection efforts may hinder the generalization performance of those advanced models and restrict further research.
