A method based on digital image correlation (DIC) for the surface shape measurement of specular surface by shifting a speckle pattern, which is displayed on an LCD screen, is proposed in this paper. With this method, the deformed information of test surface is encoded within the displacement distribution between the two recorded speckle images before and after the speckle pattern shifted. The displacement distribution is calculated by the DIC algorithm, then the slope data and the surface shape are obtained. The principle and algorithm of speckle pattern shifting deflectometry (SPSD) are described in detail. The correctness and feasibility of the proposed method are verified by simulation, and the source of error is analyzed as well. Finally, the shape of an acrylic plastic plate and a silicon wafer are measured. The experimental result of the proposed method is compared with that of PMD, and the figure error is around 1μm RMS with a measured diameter of about 100mm. This method has the advantages of fast measurement, simple device, low cost and needlessness of reference element. It provides a new approach to measure the shape of specular surface.

Study Question: Can antinuclear antibodies (ANA) affect the subsequent live birth rate (LBR) in patients with unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) in the absence of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL)?

Summary Answer: Women with unexplained RPL have a high probability of live birth following a positive pregnancy test (>70%), being similar between those with positive and negative ANA testing, regardless of the cut-off value.

What Is Known Already: The RPL guidelines of the ESHRE state that 'ANA testing can be considered for explanatory purposes'. However, there have been a limited number of studies on this issue and sample sizes have been small, and the impact of ANA on the pregnancy prognosis is unclear.

Early diagnosis of canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is complicated by the presence of a prolonged asymptomatic phase, for which a comprehensive evaluation of myocardial function is essential. This pilot study was conducted to evaluate the myocardial function in dogs with DCM using two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE). Nine client-owned Retrievers with DCM and twelve client-owned clinically normal Retrievers were comparatively evaluated using standard echocardiography and 2D-STE.

Despite increased availability of effective drug therapy for treatment of heart failure (HF), the morbidity and mortality in chronic heart failure (CHF) are unacceptably high. Therefore, there is an urgent need to ascertain new imaging techniques to identify early sub-clinical forms of cardiac dysfunctions, to guide early relevant treatment. It seems that all the behavioral risk factors-such as tobacco, alcoholism, Western-type diet, sedentary behavior and obesity, emotional disorders, and sleep disorder are associated with early cardiac dysfunction, which may be identified by speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE).

Neurovascular coupling (NVC) is crucial for maintaining brain function and holds significant implications for diagnosing neurological disorders. However, the neuron type and spatial specificity in NVC remain poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics of local cerebral blood flow (CBF) driven by excitatory (VGLUT2) and inhibitory (VGAT) neurons in the mouse sensorimotor cortex.

Zinc knuckle (ZCCHC) motif-containing proteins are present in unicellular and multicellular eukaryotes, and most ZCCHC proteins with known functions participate in the metabolism of various classes of RNA, such as mRNAs, ribosomal RNAs, and microRNAs. The Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) genome encodes 69 ZCCHC-containing proteins; however, the functions of most remain unclear. One of these proteins, CAX-INTERACTING PROTEIN 4 (CXIP4, encoded by AT2G28910), has been classified as a PTHR31437 family member.
