A novel colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent probe (Cou-BPO) was readily prepared for specific detection of harmful benzoyl peroxide (BPO). The probe Cou-BPO reacted with BPO via a selective oxidation cleavage-induced cascade reaction of the pinacol phenylboronate group, which resulted in an observable colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescence response towards BPO with a fast response time (<15 min) and a low detection limit (56 nM). For practical application, facile, portable and sensitive test paper of Cou-BPO has been prepared for visual detection of BPO. Furthermore, we employed Cou-BPO as a probe to determine BPO in food samples and living cells.

A HPU-23@Ru@Tb-NH sensor array with light-driven oxidase-mimicking activity and triple-emission fluorescence was developed. It was composed of a Tb-functionalized metal organic framework and Ru(bpy) and applied to the simultaneous detection of Hg, ClO, and PO via differently responsive channels. HPU-23@Ru@Tb-NH had a photoresponsive colorimetric response toward Hg with a LOD as low as 4.

Unreasonable or illegal utilization of pesticides may lead to pollution of agricultural products, especially with some persistent but effective pesticides. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop sensitive and rapid methods for pesticide detection to ensure the safety of agricultural products. Herein, a dual-mode ratiometric sensing system utilizing two gold nanoclusters (G/R-AuNCs) was designed and constructed for paraquat (PQ) detection, a typical, highly toxic, widely used pesticide.

Accurately monitoring the content of Cu and Hg in real samples and biological systems is of great significance in ensuring food safety and human health. Therefore, developing efficient methods for simultaneously detecting Cu and Hg is of great significance in living organisms and real samples. In this work, a bifunctional ratiometric and colorimetric fluorescent bio-sensor DPT-1, was designed and synthesized using triphenylamine to specifically and concurrently detect Cu and Hg exhibited varying degrees of fluorescence quenching through "turn-off" fluorescence.

In this report, we successfully engineered a novel probe based on an acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) architecture featuring dicyanovinyl-substituted thieno[3,2-]thiophene, termed DCVTT. The designed probe self-assembles into luminous nanoparticles (DCVTT NPs) upon introducing mixed aqueous solutions. These fluorescent nanostructures served as a ratiometric probe for detecting cyanide (CN) ions in aqueous-based environments, owing to the robust Intramolecular Charge Transfer (ICT) characteristics of DCVTT.

Gold nanoclusters decorated hollow ZIF-8 encapsulating iron-catecholates (Fe-HHTP@HZIF-8@ AuNCs) was formed through self-assembly of Fe and 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene (HHTP), in situ embedding of ZIF-8, and Au-Zn exchange reaction. Its morphology and structure were fully characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy element mapping, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Additionally, its oxidase-like activity was explored with K of 0.
