Breast cancer is the commonest malignancy affecting females. Hormone-positive cancers carry a better prognosis. Many adjuvant and palliative endocrine therapies are in use, including surgical ablation. We retrospectively studied seventy-four patients who did bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO)/bilateral oophorectomy (BO) for factors affecting survival and prognosis. BSO was superior in overall and progression-free survival. Incidental ovarian metastasis carried a grave prognosis. Surgical hormonal ablation is a viable option with laparoscopic BSO as the approach of choice.

Elevated glucagon concentrations have been reported in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). A critical role for α cell-intrinsic mechanisms in regulating glucagon secretion was previously established through genetic manipulation of the glycolytic enzyme glucokinase (GCK) in mice. Genetic variation at the glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 2 () locus, encoding an enzyme that opposes GCK, has been reproducibly associated with fasting blood glucose and hemoglobin A1c.

Introduction: Radioactive iodine (RAI) is commonly used in the management of differentiated thyroid cancers (DTCs). However, the long-term efficacy and the risk of tumor recurrence associated with it remain unclear. In particular, the comparison between recombinant human thyrotropin (rhTSH) and thyroid hormone withdrawal (THW) in terms of medium- and long-term recurrence rate in DTC patients has not been fully elucidated.

Objective: Endometrial resection and ablation are minimal invasive surgeries used to treat women with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB). Both may be followed by a high reoperation rate up to 24%. However, some studies suggest that this may be improved by adding a levonorgestrel intrauterine device (LNG-IUD) immediately following surgery.

Introduction: The presence of wounds in addition to the excision-induced wounds after severance from the stock plants is known to positively influence adventitious root formation of woody plant cuttings. Previous morphological studies highlighted laser wounding as a technique allowing to precisely control the decisive ablation depth. However, the biochemical processes involved in the response of rooting to the additional wounding remained unexplored.

Background/objective: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has been increasingly used as an alternative to surgery in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism who are unable or unwilling to have surgery.
Case Report: We present a case of a 64-year-old woman who had surgery for primary hyperparathyroidism complicated by osteoporosis. Preoperative imaging with 4-dimensional computed tomography scan suggested multigland disease; however, she had persistent hyperparathyroidism after parathyroid exploration.
