Raman analyzes were performed on zircon from a syenite located in the Poços de Caldas Complex, Brazil, with a fission-track (FT) zircon age of 81.4±6.8 Ma. Three isochronous heating (1, 10 and 100 hours) of zircon grains were subjected to temperatures between 300 and 750 °C. These temperature and times are usually applied to obtain zircon Fission-Track annealing dataset. For each time-temperature conditions, Raman spectra analyses were accomplished. The results show variations in the intensity and FWHM (full width at half maximum) in the main band (1007 cm- Si-O stretching mode), and a singular change in the peaks from 356 to 439 cm (Si-O bending mode); and from 202 to 224 cm (external modes). These changes were interpreted as spectral polarization-dependence related to common crystallinity increases due to the annealing radiation damages and that the thermal treatments do not interfere on the stability of zircon lattice.

The South Eastern Desert (SED) of Egypt is one of the most promising areas in Egypt; it is widely explored for exploring the rare earth elements (REEs) and uranium-bearing ores. It is a main part of the Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS). Therefore, the present study concerns with Sikait-Nugrus area as one of the most prolific sites in this region.

The dataset contains grain size data of placer and non-placer sediments in lagoonal and riverine beaches of southeastern part of Sri Lanka. A total of 124 swash sediment samples were collected from a 70 km long coastline with an interval of 500 m. Placer sediments in the area mainly have mineralogy of ilmenite, zircon and almandine while non-placers are quartz, albite and calcite.

Detrital and volcanic-detrital rocks from the Ifni Buttonhole and Lakhssas Plateau were analyzed to determine their provenance, compositional maturity, and alteration source. Geochemically, the sediments were classified as arkoses, lithic arenites, grauwackes, sandstones, lithic arenites, and Fe-rich sands, indicating low compositional and mineralogical maturity. A high average SiO concentration and low AlO were consistent with a low abundance of shale and clay components.

Labuan, Miri, Kundasang and Raub regions of Malaysia have very different geological formations and settings that could result in different levels of natural radioactivity. Hence, this study determines the influence of different geological formations on radioactivity in these locations using field measurements, petrology and geochemistry. A total of 141 gamma dose rates and 227 beta flux measurements were collected using Polimaster survey meters (PM1405) in these four regions.
