International feasibility trial on the use of an interactive mobile health platform for cardiac rehabilitation: protocol of the Diversity 1 study. | LitMetric
Introduction: The implementation of home-based cardiac rehabilitation has demonstrated potential to increase patient participation, but the content and the delivering of the programmes varies across countries. The objective of this study is to investigate whether an Australian-validated mobile health (mHealth) platform for cardiac rehabilitation will be accepted and adopted irrespectively from the existing organisational and contextual factors in five different European countries.
Methods And Analysis: This international multicentre feasibility study will use surveys, preliminary observations and analysis to evaluate the use and the user's perceptions (satisfaction) of a validated mHealth platform in different contextual settings.
Ethics And Dissemination: This study protocol has been approved by the Australian research organisation CSIRO and the respective ethical committees of the European sites. The dissemination of this trial will serve as a ground for the further implementation of an international large randomised controlled trial which will contribute to an effective global introduction of mHealth into daily clinical practice.
Objective: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a rare X-linked neurodegenerative disorder caused by mutations in the gene. This study examined the efficacy and safety of ataluren, the first oral treatment for DMD with nonsense mutations (nmDMD), in patients in the Middle East.
Methods: This retrospective longitudinal study assessed the outcomes of seven boys with nmDMD who received treatment with ataluren and follow-up at a single center since 2016.
Unlabelled: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health problem, CKD is widespread in the world, on average it is detected in 10-13% of the adult population. Sedentary patients with CKD on dialysis have a higher risk of mortality. Despite the significant association of physical function with mortality in patients with CKD, physical function is not routinely assessed and exercise is not a component of the routine management of patients with CKD on dialysis.
Unlabelled: Essential arterial hypertension (EAH) is a chronic non-communicable disease (CNCD), that develops in parallel with other pathologies of the CNCD group, the presence of which is promoted by hypodynamia with consequent disturbance of aerobic energy supply processes. These disorders include, in particular, degenerative-dystrophic processes of the locomotor system, comprising of the cervical spine. In turn, development of these processes can additionally worsen hemodynamics with disturbance of the oxygen transfer processes.
Background: Cerebral ischemia or stroke is the second leading cause of death in the world, and most surviving patients suffer from long-term physical and cognitive disabilities, which create many social and economic problems for them and society. Visual attention impairment is a common cognitive complication among patients with cerebral ischemia, especially in the Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA). One way to improve attention in these patients is cognitive rehabilitation.
Due to the shared risk factors between cardiovascular disease (CVD) and certain cancers such as breast cancer (BC) and colorectal cancer (CRC), our study aimed to assess the CVD risk factors among newly diagnosed patients with BC and CRC. The study utilized baseline data from the ongoing Cardiovascular Events in Breast and Colorectal Cancers (CIBC) cohort study conducted in Isfahan since 2019. Only patients who had recently been diagnosed with BC or CRC and had not undergone any treatment were included in the study.
