Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) such as α-linolenic acid (ALA, 18:3Δ ) have high nutritional and industrial values. In oilseed crops, PUFAs are synthesized on phosphatidylcholine (PC) and accumulated in triacylglycerol (TAG). Therefore, exploring the mechanisms that route PC-derived PUFA to TAG is essential for understanding and improving PUFA production. The seed oil of flax () is enriched in ALA, and this plant has many lipid biosynthetic enzymes that prefer ALA-containing substrates. In this study, using membrane yeast two-hybrid and bimolecular fluorescence complementation assays, we probed recombinant flax transferase enzymes, previously shown to contribute to PUFA enrichment of TAG, for physical interactions with each other under conditions. We found that diacylglycerol acyltransferases, which catalyze the final reaction in acyl-CoA-dependent TAG biosynthesis, interact with the acyl-editing enzymes phosphatidylcholine: diacylglycerol cholinephosphotransferase, and lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase. Physical interactions among the acyl-editing enzymes were also identified. These findings reveal the presence of an assembly of interacting transferases that may facilitate the channeling of PUFA from PC to TAG in flax and possibly also in other oleaginous plants that produce seeds enriched in PC-modified fatty acids.

Converting transverse photons into longitudinal two-dimensional plasmon--polaritons (2D-PP) and vice versa presents a significant challenge within the fields of photonics and plasmonics. Therefore, understanding the mechanism which increases the photon - 2D-PP conversion efficiency could significantly contribute to those efforts. In this study, we theoretically examine how efficiently incident radiation, when scattered by a silver spherical nanoparticle (Ag-NP), can be transformed into 2D-PP within van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures composed of hexagonal boron nitride and graphene (hBN/Gr composites).

Background: The adverse selection theory speculates a high level of demand for health insurance by people with vulnerable health conditions. However, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the prevailing narratives and pattern of healthcare utilization in many African countries. This study estimated the effects of household member's disability and presence of serious illness on the probability of National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) subscription with the average treatment effect (ATE) and average treatment effect on the treated (ATET).

Introduction: In order to improve and innovate the face-to-face instructional task in postgraduate and doctoral university teaching encompasses different formats of participatory interaction (PI), considered to be social medium facilitators of deep learning, including the development of autonomous expert activity. The purpose of this article is to establish the use of systematic observation and lag sequential analysis as a conceptual-methodological choice to base the review of social-constructivist instructional practice that is taught in an expository format prepared by the teacher.
Method: The systematic observation of the expert's expository session from its inception to its conclusion was approached from a mixed methods perspective as a subject of multiple case studies.

Astrocytes, constituting the predominant glial cells in the brain, undergo significant morphological and functional transformations amidst the progression of Parkinson's disease (PD). A majority of these reactive astrocytes display a neurotoxic phenotype, intensifying inflammatory responses. Nonetheless, the molecular underpinnings steering neurotoxic astrocyte reactivity during PD progression remain mostly uncharted.

Background: All living organisms exist in a world affected by many external influences, especially water and light. Photonic nanostructures present in certain insects, have evolved over time in response to diverse environmental conditions, facilitating communication within and between species, camouflage, thermoregulation, hydration, and more. Up to now, only a few insect species have been discovered whose elytron changes its color due to permeation of water (or its vapor) through cuticle.
