Introduction: Nerve imaging has a limited role in axonal and muscle fiber loss. In this study, we sought to explore the utility of standardized muscle ultrasound (US) assessment in these clinical scenarios.
Methods: We performed a prospective study from March to August 2018 of patients attending the neuromuscular clinic. All patients underwent clinical evaluation and standardized muscle thickness measurement by US in seven muscles.
Results: The study cohort consisted of 114 participants, including patients with polyneuropathy, motor neuron disease, and myopathy. The smallest distal muscle thickness was found in patients with polyneuropathy, while the smallest proximal muscle thickness was found in patients with myopathy. Muscle thickness was strongly correlated with muscle strength (r = 0.62), electrophysiological findings (r : 0.44-0.55), and disability score (r = 0.53).
Discussion: Standardized muscle thickness measured by US shows diagnostic usefulness in a spectrum of neuromuscular disorders and correlates with clinical and electrophysiological findings.

Background: An all-inside endoscopic flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tendon transfer is indicated for the treatment of chronic, full-thickness Achilles tendon defects. The aim of this procedure is to restore function of the gastrocnemius-soleus complex while avoiding the wound complications associated with open procedures.
Description: This procedure can be performed through 2 endoscopic portals, a posteromedial portal (the working portal) and a posterolateral portal (the visualization portal).

Purpose: The objective of the study was to establish the prevalence of Sarcocystis (Apicomplexa, Sarcocystidae) in brown rats from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Kuwait, and to describe detected parasites using morphological and DNA analysis methods.
Methods: Ninety-eight brown rats (Rattus norvegicus) were examined for Sarcocystis spp. Obtained sarcocysts were investigated using light microscopy and electron microscopy.

Objective: To objectively quantify changes in muscle properties in chronic stroke survivors and the effects of spasticity and botulinum toxin injections (BoNTi) on muscle properties using ultrasonography.
Design: In this cross-sectional observational study, 24 stroke subjects with history of BoNTi to biceps brachii muscles (BB) but without BoNTi to the triceps (TRI) were included.
Results: 12 subjects had spastic TRI, the other half did not.

Background: Electromagnetic treatments have recently been combined with radiofrequency to reduce the fat layer and simultaneously increase muscle thickness. Studies report treatment efficacy, using photographs and imaging methods.
Methods: A literature review was conducted.

Background: Aircraft noise is a growing concern for communities living near airports.
Objectives: This study aimed to explore the impact of aircraft noise on heart structure and function.
Methods: Nighttime aircraft noise levels (L) and weighted 24-hour day-evening-night aircraft noise levels (L) were provided by the UK Civil Aviation Authority for 2011.
