Purpose: Tumor/node/metastasis staging and prognostic index (PI) are used to predict prognosis and guide treatment for anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC). With the advent of treatments, such as BRAF/MEK inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors, dynamic markers to assess disease status and treatment efficacy are needed. This study examined the utility of PI as a dynamic marker for ATC treatment.

Background: Burn injuries trigger a systemic hyperinflammatory response, leading to multiple organ dysfunction, including significant hepatic damage. The liver plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses and metabolism after burn injuries, making it critical to develop strategies to mitigate hepatic impairment. This study investigates the role of methylation-controlled J protein (MCJ), an inner mitochondrial protein that represses complex I in burn-induced oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction, using an in vitro Alpha Mouse Liver 12 cell model.

Introduction: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous endocrinal physiological disorder characterized by chronic oligo-ovulation or an-ovulation, hyperandrogenism, and polycystic morphology in ovaries on transvaginal or abdominal ultrasound. Hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance are already well-documented pathophysiological mechanisms in PCOS. Besides this, autoimmunity has been hypothesized in its pathogenesis.

Introduction: Endocrine paraneoplastic syndromes (ePNS) are caused by malignant cells that induce hormonal alterations unrelated to the tissue of origin of the neoplasm. The aim of this manuscript is to review the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of endocrine paraneoplastic syndromes (ePNS).

Humans are chronically exposed to a mixture of environmental chemicals (ECs), many with metabolic and endocrine disrupting potential, contributing to non-communicable disease burden. Understanding the effects of chronic exposure to low-level mixtures of ECs requires an animal model that reflects real-world conditions, lags behind studies on single ECs. Biosolids, from wastewater treatment, offers a real-life model to investigate the developmental health risks from EC mixtures.
