A novel nitrogen-rich-carbon-coated ZIF-67 embedded three-dimensional-graphene (ZIF-67/NC/3DG) fiber was fabricated via a facile one-pot electrodeposition self-assembly method, and used as a prominent electrode for the non-enzymatic detection of adrenaline (Ad). In this design, the prepared ZIF-67 adsorbs Ad through hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction, while polypyrrole functions as the precursor of the conductive NC that seamlessly connects ZIF-67 with the 3DG fiber electrode to ameliorate the poor conductivity of the ZIF-67 moiety and thus improve the sensitivity of the ZIF-67/NC/3DG fiber electrode for detecting Ad. The constructed fiber sensor shows a double linear response over the Ad concentration range of 0.06-95 μM with a high sensitivity of 44.6 mA mM-1 cm-2 and 95.0-5900 μM with a good sensitivity of 11.0 mA mM-1 cm-2, giving a low detection limit of 0.02 μM and excellent repeatability. The ZIF-67/NC/3DG fiber electrode was further successfully applied for the determination of Ad in a real sample of human serum, indicating that this fiber electrode is a promising miniaturized sensor for electrochemical analysis.

Background: Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is a kind of scanning probe technology that enables the obtainment of surface morphology and electrochemical information by recording changes in Faraday current triggered by the movement of probe.

Results: In this work, flexible disk ultramicroelectrode (UME) with highly repeatable geometry are fabricated through a simple and universal strategy that involves vacuum pulling the glass capillaries inserted with platinum wire (gold wire, carbon fiber, etc.), followed by a rapidly heated sealing and polishing process.

Neuromuscular abnormality is the leading cause of disability in adults. Understanding the complex interplay between muscle structure and function is crucial for effective treatment and rehabilitation. However, the substantial deformation of muscles during movement (up to 40%) poses challenges for accurate assessment.

To address the pressing demand for hyphenated characterization of the electrode-electrolyte interfaces at the molecular level, we report herein a technical note to demonstrate the hyphenation of electrochemical surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy (SEIRAS) and shell-isolated nanoparticle enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SHINERS). The core setup incorporates a top-down configured Raman optic fiber head loaded on a 3-dimension positioning module and a bottom-up configured attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR) spectroelectrochemical cell accommodated in a custom-designed optical accessory. The feasibility of this integrated design is initially validated by the simultaneous measurement of two model systems, namely, potential dependent adsorption of pyridine on a Au film electrode and the CO reduction reaction on a Cu film electrode by SEIRAS and SHINERS, yielding distinct and complementary spectral information.

Nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) are widely used in biosensing, catalysis, and energy storage due to their excellent conductivity, high specific surface area, unique quantum size effects, and optical properties. In this paper, we successfully synthesized N-GQDs using a facile hydrothermal approach and investigated the effects of different hydrothermal temperatures and times on the morphology and structure of N-GQDs. The results indicated that the size of N-GQDs gradually increased and they eventually aggregated into graphene fragments with increasing temperature or reaction time.

Silver nanowire (Ag NW)-based elastic conductors have been considered a promising candidate for key stretchable electrodes in wearable devices. However, the weak interface interaction of Ag NWs and elastic substrates leads to poor durability of electronic devices. For everyday usage, an additional self-healing ability is required to resist scratching and damage.
