The mucus coating around a fish's body is essential to its survival. It contains antimicrobial properties, aids in drag reduction, and protects against physical damage. It is versatile in the aquatic environment but little is known about the role of mucus in amphibious fishes.

Despite the maturity and sophistication of anaesthesia workstations, improvements in our understanding of intraoperative mechanical ventilation, and use of less invasive surgical techniques, postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) are still a common problem in surgical patients of all ages. PPCs are associated with a higher incidence of perioperative morbidity and mortality, longer hospital stays, and higher healthcare costs. PPCs are strongly associated with anaesthesia-induced atelectasis, which predisposes to lung damage when partially collapsed lungs are subjected to mechanical ventilation.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT), as a non-invasive cancer treatment, offers significant advantages including high temporal-spatial selectivity, minimal surgical intervention, and low toxicity, thereby garnering considerable research interest from across the world. In this study, we have developed a series of dinuclear cyclometalated Ir(III) complexes as potential two-photon photodynamic anticancer agents. These Ir(III) complexes demonstrate significant two-photon absorption (2PA) cross-sections ( = 66-166 GM) and specifically target mitochondria.

Optimizing the longevity of vascular access in hemodialysis patients remains a critical aspect of patient care, given the significant role of arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) and arteriovenous grafts (AVGs) in enabling effective dialysis. Vascular access complications, such as stenosis, thrombosis, and cannulation-related damage, continue to challenge both the functionality and the sustainability of these access points. Recent advancements underscore the importance of a robust follow-up strategy, integrating clinical evaluations with diagnostic tools like color Doppler ultrasound (CDU) and emerging interventional approaches such as drug-coated balloon (DCB) angioplasty.

Objective: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major global health problem. In clinical practice, the Chinese patent herbal medicine Jianpi-Yishen (JPYS) formula is commonly used to treat CKD. However, the molecular mechanisms by which JPYS targets and modulates the host immune response remain unclear.
