An Au/K bicatalyst-assisted chemical vapor deposition process using CH to grow high-density carbon nanocoils (CNCs) uniformly on the fibers in carbon fiber cloth substrates three-dimensionally was developed. An as-deposited substrate (2.5 × 1.0 cm) showed a high electrochemical active surface area (16.53 cm), suggesting its potential usefulness as the electrode in electrochemical devices. The unique one-dimensional (1D) helical structure of the CNCs shortened the diffusion pathways of the ions in the electrolyte and generated efficient electron conduction routes so that the observed serial resistance was low (3.7 Ω). By employing two-electrode systems, a liquid-state supercapacitor (SC) in HSO (1.0 M) and a solid-state SC with a polypropylene (PP) separator immersed in HSO (1.0 M)/polyvinylalcohol were assembled and investigated by using CNC-based electrodes. Both devices exhibited approximate rectangular shape profiles in the cyclic voltammetry measurements at various scan rates. The observations indicated their electric double-layer capacitive behaviors. From their galvanostatic charge/discharge curves, the specific capacitances of the liquid SC and the solid SC were measured to be approximately 137 and 163 F/g, respectively. In addition, the solid-state CNC-based SC possessed excellent energy density (15.3 W h/kg) and power density (510 W/kg). The light weight solid SC (0.1965 g, 2.5 × 1.0 cm) was bendable up to 150° with most of the properties retained.

Dual atomic nanozymes (DAzymes) are promising for applications in the field of tumor catalytic therapy. Here, integrating with ultrasmall FeC nanoclusters, asymmetric coordination featuring Janus Zn-Fe dual-atom sites with an ON-Fe-Zn-N moiety embedded in a carbon vacancy-engineered hollow nanobox (Janus ZnFe DAs-FeC) was elaborately developed. Theoretical calculation revealed that the synergistic effects of Zn centers acting as both adsorption and active sites, oxygen-heteroatom doping, carbon vacancy, and FeC nanoclusters jointly downshifted the d-band center of Fe 3d orbitals, optimizing the desorption behaviors of intermediates *OH, thereby significantly promoting catalytic activity.

Thermal co-evaporation of halide perovskites is a solution-free, conformal, scalable, and controllable deposition technique with great potential for commercial applications, particularly in multi-junction solar cells. Monolithic triple-junction perovskite solar cells have garnered significant attention because they can achieve very high efficiencies. Nevertheless, challenges arise in fabricating these devices, as they require multiple layers and precise current matching across complex absorber stacks.

The thermal dehydration of sodium carbonate monohydrate (SC-MH) exhibits kinetic characteristics that are typical of the thermal decomposition of solids with a reversible nature. One of the characteristics is the physico-geometrical constraints of the reaction due to the heterogeneous reaction feature. Another factor is the considerable impact of the atmospheric and self-generated water vapor on the kinetics.

Flexible covalent organic frameworks (COFs) offer distinct advantages in elasticity and adaptability over rigid COFs, but these benefits often come at the expense of crystallinity due to challenges in polymerization, complicating both synthesis and structural characterization. Current research primarily employs single flexible monomers, which limits the tunability of these frameworks. In this study, we introduce two highly crystalline, flexible COFs, ZCST-102 and ZCST-103, constructed from dual flexible monomers.

Interfacial solar vapor generation (ISVG) accompanied by photocatalytic degradation holds immense potential to mitigate water scarcity and pollution. Distinct from the two detached functional components (photothermal agent and photocatalyst) in a conventional evaporator, in this study, an all-in-one photothermal/catalytic agent, nitrogen-containing honeycomb carbon nanosheets (NHC), was engineered for synergistic high-efficiency steam generation and photocatalysis functions. It was demonstrated that the superoxide radical generated on the surface of NHC conferred its catalytic activity to the photodegradation of organic pollutants under full solar spectrum irradiation.
