The analytical reliability of the determination of pH, pCO2 and pO2 by the automatic analyzer "ABL 300" (Radiometer) was studied. Control materials were used: Confirm, Acidbasol and Qualicheck in the normal, acid and alkaline sphere, and arterial blood, too. The precision within run and between runs for pH and pCO2 meets the contemporary standards (variation coefficient: pH--below 0.2%, pCO2--below 5%. The precision between runs for pO2 is unsatisfactory by low partial oxygen pressure. The accuracy of the three directly determined indices meets the contemporary standards. The comparative analysis of the results obtained by "ABL 300" and "Corning 178" shows a high degree of correlation between the two apparatuses.

Automated tools for quantification of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) can aid in ensuring reproducibility, however their complexity and costs can differ substantially. In this retrospective study, two automated tools were compared in 45 patients with biopsy proven (12/45) and imaging-based (33/45) IPF diagnosis (mean age 74 ± 9 years, 37 male) for quantification of pulmonary fibrosis in CT. First, a tool that identifies multiple characteristic lung texture features was applied to measure multi-texture fibrotic lung (MTFL) by combining the amount of ground glass, reticulation, and honeycombing.

The tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum, G. Cuvier 1818) thrives both in the ion-poor waters of the Amazon and in commercial aquaculture. In both, environmental conditions can be harsh due to low ion levels, occasional high salt challenges (in aquaculture), low pH, extreme PO levels (hypoxia and hyperoxia), high PCO levels (hypercapnia), high ammonia levels (in aquaculture), and high and low temperatures.

Background Venous blood gas (VBG) investigation is a widespread option for arterial blood gas analysis because it is easier to draw and has a lower risk of complications during phlebotomy. This study aimed to establish reference intervals for the accurate analysis of VBG results as there is a lack of published data. Method Dr.

Background: Minimizing air aspiration by carefully filling blood gas syringes is crucial to prevent air contamination from causing undesirable variations in gasses and other molecules. While some previous studies investigated this aspect, these are now outdated and only analyzed a limited number of blood gas parameters. Thus, we investigated the effects air contamination in the syringe using a modern blood gas analyzer.

Hibernating mammals experience severe hemodynamic changes over the torpor-arousal cycle, with oxygen consumption reaching peaks during the early stage of torpor to re-enter arousal. Melatonin (MT) can improve mitochondrial function and reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. However, the regulatory mechanisms of MT action on the vascular protective function of hibernators are still unclear.
