Allelic differences in and mating-type loci are a prerequisite for the progression of mating in the genus ; thus, the crossing is hampered by this biological barrier in inbreeding. Molecular markers linked to mating types of KNR2312 were investigated with randomly amplified polymorphic DNA to enhance crossing efficiency. An -linked sequence was identified and used to find the adjacent genomic region with the entire motif of the locus from a contig sequenced by PacBio. The sequence-characterized amplified region marker 7-2 distinguished mating-type monokaryons from KNR2312 and other strains. A BLAST search of flanked sequences revealed that the locus had a general feature consisting of the putative and genes. Both putative HD transcription factors contain a homeodomain sequence and a nuclear localization sequence; however, valid dimerization motifs were found only in the HD1 protein. The ACAAT motif, which was reported to have relevance to sex determination, was found in the intergenic region. The SCAR marker could be applicable in the classification of mating types in the breeding program, and the locus could be the basis for a multi-allele detection marker.

Background: Mating disruption (MD) is a worthwhile technique for the control of and in central Europe and Mediterranean areas. MD efficacy is affected by the pheromone release (PR), which in turn is influenced by environmental conditions.
Methods: The effect of weather conditions on PR was evaluated under four different fields in northern Italy.

Background/objectives: Systems of reproduction differ with respect to the magnitude of neutral genetic diversity maintained in a population. In particular, the partitioning of reproductive organisms into mating types and regular inbreeding have long been recognized as key factors that influence effective population number. Here, a range of reproductive systems are compared with respect to the maintenance of neutral genetic diversity.

Viruses are intracellular parasites that hijack the cellular machinery for their own replication. Therefore, an obligatory step in the virus life cycle is the delivery of the viral genome inside the cell. Enveloped viruses (i.

Objective: This study aims to inform the prevention and treatment of infections in China by analyzing the molecular epidemiology and distribution patterns of the pathogen.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving a retrospective analysis of 64 clinical strains of isolated from January 2018 to April 2023 across various domestic regions. Patient information was collected from human immunodeficiency virus-positive individuals in multiple hospitals located in 19 cities within China's southeastern coastal and southwestern regions.

Fungal sexual reproduction is controlled by the mating-type () locus. In contrast to a majority of species in the phylum Basidiomycota that have tetrapolar mating-type systems, the opportunistic human pathogen employs a bipolar mating-type system, with two mating types ( and α) determined by a single locus that is unusually large (~120 kb) and contains more than 20 genes. While several genes are associated with mating and sexual development, others control conserved cellular processes (e.
