A method is reported for in-situ detection of the antibiotic tetracycline (TC). It is based on a combination of extraction of TC by magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers nanoparticles (MMIPs NPs) and detection by surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The TC-captured MMIPs NPs were flowed over the surface of the SPR chip that was modified with mercaptoethylamine. The SPR signal undergoes a strong increase through the use of MMIPs NPs. It increases linearly in the 5.0-100 pg·mL TC concentration range, and the detection limit is as low as 1.0 pg·mL (at S/N = 3). This method shows selectivity to TC compared with structurally analogues. In order to demonstrate the power of the method, it was applied to the analysis of milk spiked with TC. These results were validated by comparing them to those of an enzyme-linked immunoassay. The average recovery is in the range of 95.7-104.6%. Graphical abstract Schematic representation of a surface plasmon resonance assay for the sensitive determination of tetracycline in milk using the magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers nanoparticles that can extract tetracycline and amplify the SPR signal.

Rosmarinic acid (RA) is a natural active compound widely found in many plants belonging to the family of , , and so on, which has various important bioactivities, including being anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, etc. Herein, novel hydrophilic magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (HMMIPs) with a regular core-shell structure were successfully developed using RA as a template molecule, acrylamide (AM) as a functional monomer, N-N 'methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a cross-linking agent, and water as the porogen. After a series of characterization and adsorption performance analyses, it was found that HMMIPs are hydrophilic with an adsorption capacity of 8.

Ofloxacin is a commonly used quinolone antibiotic that is also used as a feed supplement in livestock production and in plant disease prevention and treatment. However, the excessive use and abuse of ofloxacin will accumulate along the food chain and endanger human health. Therefore, the development of a simple, rapid, and sensitive detection method for the determination of ofloxacin is critical.

Steroid hormones constitute a group of hormones with molecular weights ranging from 200 to 400 daltons, characterized by their highly similar chemical structures. Each hormone within this group holds significant value for the diagnosis of various diseases. Accurate clinical measurement of the levels of each hormone is crucial for the diagnosis in clinical settings.

Magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) has been widely employed in the isolation and enrichment of antibiotics in complex matrices because it presents various unique advantages over traditional SPE including simple operation, fast extraction procedure, low cost and eco-friendliness. In recently years, magnetic molecularly imprinted nanoparticles (MMINs) containing highly specific recognition performance have been widely used to specific extraction of antibiotics under the format of MSPE. In this connection, recent advances of MMINs in the analysis of antibiotic residues are reviewed.

The large-scale production of glycyrrhizic acid inevitably generates a large amount of licorice residues waste, which contains a wealth of active ingredients, especially glabridin, a natural preservative. However, traditional extraction methods for glabridin are often limited by bottlenecks such as time-consuming, inefficient, and insufficient specificity. To overcome these challenges, this study innovatively introduced 2-phenylimidazole as a functional monomer by computer simulations and successfully developed magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) for glabridin.
