In this work, selenium (IV) ions were adsorbed from aqueous solutions by the strongly basic anion exchange resin Amberlite IRA-400. The morphology of the resin before and after Se(IV) sorption was investigated using different techniques such as energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To determine the ideal sorption conditions, a batch approach was used to examine the variables affecting Se(IV) sorption performance, including pH, shaking time, adsorbent dosage, initial metal ion concentration, and temperature.

This study focuses on the synthesis of a novel Cerium-Magnesium (CeO-MgO) binary oxide nanomaterials by a simple co-precipitation process and used to remove harmful pollutants such as Cr(VI), Cu(II), and F. The morphology, phase, crystallite size, thermal stability, functional groups, surface area, and porosity of the synthesized nanomaterial were determined by using XRD, SEM, FTIR, TGA/DTA, and BET studies. The prepared nanomaterials showed adsorption selectivity of Cu(II) ≈ F> Cr(VI) with a high adsorption capacity of 84.

Zinc-imprinted polymer (ZnIP) and non-imprinted polymer (NIP) were synthesized by radical polymerization, and their properties were studied. The novelty of the work lies in the use of humic acids isolated from coals of the Shubarkol deposit (Karaganda, Kazakhstan) as a basis for the imprinted polymer matrix, with methacrylic acid and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a functional monomer and a cross-linking agent, respectively. The composition and structure of ZnIP and NIP were characterized using various physicochemical methods.

Direct lithium extraction from unconventional resources requires the development of effective adsorbents. Crown ether-containing materials have been reported as promising structures in terms of lithium selectivity, but data on adsorption in real, highly saline brines are scarce. Crown ether-grafted graphene oxides were synthesized using 2-hydroxymethyl-12-crown-4, hydroxy-dibenzo-14-crown-4 and epichlorohydrin as a source of anchoring groups.
