Accurate estimations of manual arm strength (MAS) are crucial in the evaluation of occupational force demands relative to population capacity. Most current strength predictions assume force application with a vertically oriented handle, but it is unknown how uni-manual force capability changes as a function of handle orientation and hand location. This study evaluated the effect of handle orientation on MAS throughout the reach envelope. Fifteen female participants exerted maximum forces in six directions (i.e. superior, inferior, anterior, posterior, medial, lateral), at five different hand locations, and MAS was measured with the handle oriented at 0° (i.e. horizontal), 45°, 90° (i.e. vertical) and 135°. Handle orientation affected MAS in all but the anterior exertion direction, with significant interactions between hand location and grip orientation existing for the superior and inferior directions. These results suggest that handle orientation is important to consider in future predictive models of manual arm strength.

The work main purposes were to identify the sources of problems and demands causing parental burnout and to specify the resources/support factors during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was based on the Balance Theory of Risk and Support/Resource Factors (BR Model) by Mikolajczak and Roskam. The study explored the predictive value of socio-economic variables, religiosity, the meaning of life, positivity, perceived social support, family functionality, and balance between risks and resources in parental burnout using the structural equation modelling method on a sample of 337 parents.

This study investigates the mechanical properties of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) 60A, which is a flexible material that can be used to produce soft robotic grippers using additive manufacturing. Tensile tests were conducted under ISO 37 and ISO 527 standards to assess the effects of different printing orientations (0°, 45°, -45°, 90°, and quasi-isotropic) and test speeds (2 mm/min, 20 mm/min, and 200 mm/min) on the material's performance. While the printing orientations at 0° and quasi-isotropic provided similar performance, the quasi-isotropic orientation demonstrated the most balanced mechanical behavior, establishing it as the optimal choice for robust and predictable performance, particularly for computational simulations.

American elderberry juice (EBJ) and fermented elderberry juice (EBF) were spray dried using two different carriers: S. cerevisiae yeast (SC), used for juice fermentation and as encapsulating agent, and pea protein, to produce protein-polyphenol ingredients. The spray drying (SD) performance (solids recovery, SR; phenolic retention, PR) and quality attributes (physicochemical and functional properties, phytochemical content and bioaccessibility after in vitro digestion) of eight treatments of spray dried elderberry particles were determined.

This article analyzes and compares three methodologies for identifying suitable regions for solar hydrogen production using photovoltaic panels: AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), FAHP (Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process), and MC-FAHP (Monte Carlo FAHP), integrated with GIS (Geographic Information Systems). The study employs ten criteria across technical (Global Horizontal Irradiance, temperature, slope, elevation, orientation), economic (distance from transportation and electrical networks), and social (population density, proximity to residential areas) factors. Environmental and exclusion criteria define restrictive zones.

The design and development of advanced surgical sutures with appropriate structure and abundant bio-functions are urgently required for the chronic wound closure and treatment. In this study, an integrated technique routine combining modified electrospinning with hot stretching process was proposed and implemented to fabricate poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) nanofiber sutures, and the Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge-Radix Puerariae herbal compound (SRHC) was encapsulated into PLLA nanofibers during the electrospinning process to enrich the biofunction of as-generated sutures. All the PLLA sutures loading without or with SRHC were found to exhibit bead-free and highly-aligned nanofiber structure.
