The risk of Parkinson's disease (PD) associated with farming has received considerable attention, in particular for pesticide exposure. However, data on PD risk associated with specific farming activities is lacking. We aimed to explore whether specific farming activities exhibited a higher risk of PD than others among the entire French farm manager (FM) population.

Bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) is a widespread respiratory infection that significantly impacts cattle health worldwide. To address this issue in China, we previously developed a novel double gene-deleted vaccine targeting gG and tk. In this study, we further evaluated the efficacy of this vaccine by challenging vaccinated cattle with a prevalent wild-type BoHV-1 strain and comparing its effectiveness against a commercially available inactivated BoHV-1 vaccine.

Although the highlands of East Africa lack the geo-ecological landmarks of Rift Valley fever (RVF) disease hotspots to participate in cyclic RVF epidemics, they have recently reported growing numbers of small RVF clusters. Here, we investigated whether RVF cycling occurred among livestock and humans in the central highlands of Kenya during inter-epidemic periods. A 2-year prospective hospital-based study among febrile patients (March 2022-February 2024) in Murang'a County of Kenya was followed by a cross-sectional human-animal survey.

Dung beetles mostly feed on mammal dung. Throughout the European Alps, the dung produced by local domestic ungulates attracts many species of dung beetles, giving rise to rich and diversified communities that play an important role in the Alpine agricultural ecosystem. There is, therefore, understandable concern about the introduction of exotic livestock, such as alpacas ( (Linnaeus, 1758)), into the region.

6-Aza-2-Thiothymine as an Alternative Matrix for Spatial Proteomics with MALDI-MSI.

Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionisation-Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MALDI-MSI) is a well-established spatial omic technique which enables the untargeted mapping of various classes of biomolecules, including tryptic peptides, directly on tissue. This method relies on the use of matrices for the ionisation and volatilisation of analytes, and α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) represents the most widespread matrix for tryptic peptides analysis. However, CHCA also presents certain limitations that foster the quest for novel matrix compounds.
