Information Communication Technology, such as smartphones, apps, the internet, etc., has become all-pervasive in our society. To learn the impact of Information Communication Technology (ICT) on everyday functioning, specifically Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL), an exploratory review was undertaken. We identified how many primary IADL domains were substantially influenced by ICT, by examining primary IADL domains, in terms of traditional and ICT-enabled ways of completing these common tasks. The study further explored the implications of the pervasiveness of ICT and the ICT-enabled new normal in everyday functioning that underpins the need to redefine IADLs. This examination revealed that the impact of ICT on IADLs has been so profound, that it marks a paradigm shift in the way we assess IADL completion. Creation of the concept of "Electronic Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (eIADLs)" would be a first step in marking this paradigm shift, and would foster further advances for understanding the mechanisms underlying the ICT-based life style related outcome measurement in rehabilitation science.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThe presence of Information Communication Technology (ICT) has substantially influenced the way we complete our Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL). Indeed, the impact is so profound, that it marks a paradigm shift in the way we should assess and measure everyday functioning.Creation of the concept of eIADLs would be a first step in marking this paradigm shift, and would foster further advances for understanding the mechanisms underlying the ICT-based life style related outcome measurement in the rehabilitation sciences.

We investigated the interplay of cardiovascular autonomic and inflammatory profiles in persons with extreme longevity (PEL), their direct offsprings (DO), and a group of controls matched for age and sex with the DO. Cardiac autonomic control was assessed through the heart rate variability (HRV) using spectral and symbolic analysis. The plasma concentration and gene expression of interleukin (IL)-10, IL-6, and TNF-α were quantified.

Alteration of responses to salient stimuli occurs in a wide range of brain disorders and may be rooted in pathophysiological brain state dynamics. Specifically, tonic and phasic modes of activity in the reticular activating system (RAS) influence, and are influenced by, salient stimuli, respectively. The RAS influences the spectral characteristics of activity in the neocortex, shifting the balance between low- and high-frequency fluctuations.

Technological innovation serves as the catalyst for the shift towards circular practices. Technologies not only address technical challenges, facilitating the transition to a more circular economy, but they also enhance business efficiency and profitability. Furthermore, they promote inclusivity and create job opportunities, ultimately yielding positive societal impacts.

It is difficult to distinguish Parkinson's disease (PD) in the early stage from those of various disorders including atypical Parkinson's syndrome (APS), vascular parkinsonism (VP), and even essential tremor (ET), because of the overlap of symptoms. Other, more challenging problems will arise when Parkinson's disease develops into Parkinson's disease dementia (PDD) in the middle and late stages. At this time, the differential diagnosis of PDD and DLB becomes thorny.

Twenty years ago, it was difficult to imagine the use of nucleic acids in plant protection as insecticides, but today it is a reality. New technologies often work inefficiently and are very expensive; however, qualitative changes occur during their development, making them more accessible and work effectively. Invented in 2008, contact oligonucleotide insecticides (olinscides, or DNA insecticides) based on the CUAD (contact unmodified antisense DNA) platform have been substantially improved and rethought.
