Background: Total talar dislocation (TTD) is very uncommon for many orthopedic surgeons and emergency/trauma specialists. Scarce cases of TTD have been reported, mainly in the form of open fracture-dislocation injury.

Case Summary: We report a very rare injury of closed TTD with a follow-up period of 36 mo. Initial closed reduction was not successful because of a fractured highly unstable medial malleolus displaced into the ankle mortise, blocking the relocation of the talus. The patient was able to walk pain-free after the 3 month of surgery. At the 36-mo follow-up, there were 10 degrees of flexion loss and 10 degrees of extension loss in the tibiotalar joint. Furthermore, 5 degrees of subtalar joint inversion-eversion loss was present.

Conclusion: Open reduction should be performed for closed TTDs unless closed reduction is successful.

Here we report results of a phase 1 multi-institutional, open-label, dose-escalation trial (NCT02744287) of BPX-601, an investigational autologous PSCA-directed GoCAR-T® cell product containing an inducible MyD88/CD40 ON-switch responsive to the activating dimerizer rimiducid, in patients with metastatic pancreatic (mPDAC) or castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Primary objectives were to evaluate safety and tolerability and determine the recommended phase 2 dose/schedule (RP2D). Secondary objectives included the assessment of efficacy and characterization of the pharmacokinetics of rimiducid.

Background & objectives Surgical site infections (SSIs) are among the most prevalent healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs). They cause significant morbidity, leading to excess health expenditures and increased length of hospital stay. Despite a high population burden, data on post-discharge SSIs is lacking from low-and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Background Acetabular fractures, a rising concern in developing countries, pose a significant challenge due to their complexity and association with post-operative complications. Often caused by high-energy mechanisms like falls and motor vehicle accidents, these fractures require accurate reduction to prevent long-term issues and the potential need for hip replacement. This study investigates the radiological outcomes of acetabular fracture surgery at six months, focusing on the effectiveness of achieving anatomical reduction using the Matta criteria in a low-and middle-income country (LMIC) setting.

Osteoarthritis (OA) of the foot and ankle is prevalent and often debilitating, necessitating effective treatment options. This study evaluates the analgesic efficacy of corticosteroid injections in individual foot and ankle joints. Stepping Hill Hospital conducted a retrospective audit of 166 patients who received guided corticosteroid injections.

In this report, we present a case of a triple clavicle injury, acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation, a middle third clavicle fracture, and a sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) subluxation, and describe its successful surgical treatment. A 49-year-old female patient sustained a 3 m fall, resulting in direct trauma to her left shoulder. Initial radiographs and computed tomography (CT) scans revealed a displaced middle third clavicle fracture, a high-grade ACJ dislocation, and a posterior SCJ subluxation.
