Gout is caused by monosodium urate crystal deposition within joints and periarticular structures. It is characterized by the typical arthritis symptoms such as pain, swelling, and redness usually involving the first metatarsophalangeal joint. Recurrent attacks of gout are common, especially after major surgical procedures during which intense cell turnover takes place and can lead to hyperuricemia and accumulation of monosodium urate crystals.

Background In the presence of distal femoral condyle bone loss, estimation and restoration of the joint line (JL) position can be guided by extraarticular bony landmarks with the aid of mathematical formulas that rely on the innate correlations between periarticular measurements. To prevent JL elevation, the formula should incorporate the thickness of distal femoral articular cartilage. The aim of this study was to derive a formula to estimate native JL position.

Background: Temporary ankle-spanning circular fixation aims to provide osseous stability while (1) allowing access to and recovery of the traumatized soft-tissue envelope and (2) facilitating safe, comfortable, and clinically relevant cross-sectional imaging for surgical planning. It is most commonly utilized in a "span-scan-plan" treatment strategy in cases of peri-articular fractures around the ankle. Conventional monolateral fixators are prone to morbidity at the half-pin sites in the foot and variation in construct stability.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune inflammatory condition that primarily affects the joints and periarticular soft tissue. The development of joint swelling is traditionally regarded as the starting point of the disease. Emerging evidence indicates that RA patients often experience a preclinical stage characterized by immunological and inflammatory changes before developing the disease.

Synovial haemangioma is a rare benign entity, most common in children and adolescents. These tumours can extensively infiltrate joint structures and periarticular soft tissues, making management challenging. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has a key role in diagnosis and therapeutic planning.
