We screened for bacterial phospho-N-acetylmuramyl-pentapeptide-translocase (MraY: EC 2.7.8.13) inhibitors with the aim of discovering novel antibiotics and observed inhibitory activity in the culture broth of an actinomycete, SANK 60501. The active compounds, muraminomicins A, B, C, D, E, E, F, G, H, and I exhibited strong inhibitory activity against MraY with IC values of 0.0105, 0.0068, 0.0104, 0.0099, 0.0115, 0.0109, 0.0089, 0.0134, 0.0186, and 0.0094 μg ml, respectively. Although muraminomicin F exhibited favorable antibacterial activity against drug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria, this activity was reduced with the addition of serum. To efficiently supply the core component for chemical modification studies, production was carried out in a controlled trial by adding myristic acid to the medium, and a purification method suitable for large-scale production was successfully developed.

Research into new solutions for wearable assistive devices for the visually impaired is an important area of assistive technology (AT). This plays a crucial role in improving the functionality and independence of the visually impaired, helping them to participate fully in their daily lives and in various community activities. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of the literature published over the last decade on wearable assistive devices for the visually impaired, retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) using CiteSpace, to provide an overview of the current state of research, trends, and hotspots in the field.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided tissue sampling includes the techniques of fine needle aspiration (FNA) and fine needle biopsy (FNB), and both procedures have revolutionized specimen collection from the gastrointestinal tract, especially from remote/inaccessible organs. EUS-FNB has replaced FNA as the procedure of choice for tissue acquisition in solid pancreatic lesions (SPLs) across various society guidelines. FNB specimens provide a larger histological tissue core (preserving tissue architecture) with fewer needle passes, and this is extremely relevant in today's era of precision and personalized molecular medicine.

In this study, a new technique for active control of the flow around a corner is proposed and a key parameter dominating the flow deflection angle is proposed. In the technique, a microjet array is used for controlling the deflection of the flow at 33 m/s ~ 54 m/s around the 25-degree corner with a small downstream-facing step, the surface of which is lined with the micro-orifices from which jets are injected into the flow. The flow velocities around the corner are measured using a PIV (particle image velocimetry) technique under each condition for injecting the microjets into the flow.

The circadian system is composed by a central hypothalamic clock at the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) that communicates with peripheral circadian oscillators for daily coordination of behavior and physiology. The SCN entrain to the environmental 24-h light-dark (LD) cycle and drive daily rhythms of internal synchronizers such as core body temperature, hypothalamic-hypophysary hormones, sympathetic/parasympathetic activity, as well as behavioral and feeding-fasting rhythms, which supply signals setting core molecular clocks at central and peripheral tissues. Steady phase relationships between the SCN and peripheral oscillators keep homeostatic processes such as microbiota/microbiome composition/activity, metabolic supply/demand, energy balance, immunoinflammatory process, sleep amount and quality, psychophysiological stress, etc.
