The lack of effective glioma therapeutics mandates the development of novel treatment strategies. Hepatoma-derived growth factor (HDGF) has been considered as a potential glioma therapeutic target, and its expression level in gliomas is positively related to the malignant grade. Although there are no effective and specific inhibitors against this target, small interfering RNA targeting HDGF (siHDGF)-mediated RNA interference (RNAi) can inhibit the target protein function by knockdown of HDGF expression. However, the application of siHDGF in glioma research and therapy is hampered by the challenge to safe and effective in vivo systemic delivery of siHDGF to gliomas. To address this question, we develop the peptide HK(R)-modified pH-sensitive self-assembled hybrid nanoparticles encapsulating siHDGF (HK(R)-PSNPs (siHDGF)). The acidic glioma microenvironment is beneficial to the membrane penetration of HK(R)-PSNPs and the encapsulated siHDGF. Following systemic administration, HK(R)-PSNPs (siHDGF) can effectively deliver siHDGF into the brain and malignant glioma cells, and therefore can significantly downregulate HDGF expression, inhibit malignant phenotypes of glioma cells, result in reduced tumor volumes and prolonged survival times in nude mice bearing U251 human glioblastoma. Thus, systemic administration of HK(R)-PSNPs (siHDGF) offers an effective way for the targeted delivery of siHDGF and may serve as a practical malignant glioma therapy.

The widespread use of wireless communication technologies has increased human exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMFs). Considering the brain's close proximity to mobile phones and its entirely electrical transmission network, it emerges as the organ most profoundly impacted by the RF field. This study aims to investigate the potential effects of RF radiation on cell viability, apoptosis, and gene expressions in glioblastoma cells (U118-MG) at different exposure times (1, 24, and 48 h).

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is characterized by pronounced immune escape and resistance to chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. Preliminary investigations revealed a marked overexpression of gasdermin E (GSDME) in GBM. Notably, cisplatin (CDDP) demonstrated a capacity of inducing pyroptosis by activating caspase-3 to cleave GSDME, coupled with the release of proinflammatory factors, indicating the potential as a viable approach of inducing anti-tumor immune activation.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most prevalent, treatment-resistant, and fatal form of brain malignancy. It is characterized by genetic heterogeneity, and an infiltrative nature, and GBM treatment is highly challenging. Despite multimodal therapies, clinicians lack efficient prognostic and predictive markers.

Glioma is a highly fatal and heterogeneous brain tumor with few known risk factors. Our study examines genetically predicted variability in blood cell indices in relation to glioma risk and survival in 3418 cases and 8156 controls. We find that increased platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) confers an increased risk of glioma (odds ratio (OR) = 1.

Rationale And Objectives: Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) status, glioma subtypes and tumor proliferation are important for glioma evaluation. We comprehensively compare the diagnostic performance of amide proton transfer-weighted (APTw) MRI and its related metrics in glioma diagnosis, in the context of the latest classification.
Materials And Methods: Totally 110 patients with adult-type diffuse gliomas underwent APTw imaging.
