Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is a cardiac hormone belonging to the family of natriuretic peptides (NPs). ANP exerts diuretic, natriuretic, and vasodilatory effects that contribute to maintain water-salt balance and regulate blood pressure. Besides these systemic properties, ANP displays important pleiotropic effects in the heart and in the vascular system that are independent of blood pressure regulation. These functions occur through autocrine and paracrine mechanisms. Previous works examining the cardiac phenotype of loss-of-function mouse models of ANP signaling showed that both mice with gene deletion of ANP or its receptor natriuretic peptide receptor A (NPR-A) developed cardiac hypertrophy and dysfunction in response to pressure overload and chronic ischemic remodeling. Conversely, ANP administration has been shown to improve cardiac function in response to remodeling and reduces ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. ANP also acts as a pro-angiogenetic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-atherosclerotic factor in the vascular system. Pleiotropic effects regarding brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) were also reported. In this review, we discuss the current evidence underlying the pleiotropic effects of NPs, underlying their importance in cardiovascular homeostasis.

Introduction: Relaxin is a hormone primarily produced by the corpus luteum during pregnancy, and it plays a critical role in various physiological processes related to pregnancy and childbirth.
Evidence Acquisition: Studies have suggested a possible link between relaxin levels and preterm birth. Relaxin's effects on the cervix and pelvic ligaments suggest it could influence the mode of delivery.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have revolutionized the treatment of cardiometabolic diseases, extending their therapeutic applications far beyond glycemic control in type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity. This editorial synthesizes key milestones, from the discovery of GLP-1 to recent clinical trials highlighting the pleiotropic effects of GLP-1RAs in addressing the interconnected spectrum of cardiometabolic conditions, with a focus on cardiovascular, renal, and hepatic benefits. In addition, as GLP-1RAs continue to reshape the management of cardiometabolic disease and global public health, we discuss future challenges to better elucidate their mechanisms of cardiometabolic protection and maximize their therapeutic potential.

Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) has been shown in mammalia to activate a series of signal transduction systems and exert various biological effects, such as controlling the differentiation, proliferation, and survival of granulocytes, promoting the movement of hematopoietic stem cells from the bone marrow to the bloodstream, and triggering the development of T cells, dendritic cells, and immune tolerance in transplants. In this study, the mRNA of flounder G-CSF (PoG-CSF) and its receptor (PoGCSFR) were detected and widely expressed in all examined tissues with the highest expression in peritoneal cells. G-CSF and GCSFR cells were observed to be abundantly distributed in the leukocytes from the peritoneal cavity, followed by head kidney.

Objectives: COVID-19 and systemic sclerosis (SSc) share multiple similarities in their clinical manifestations, alterations in immune response, and therapeutic options. These resemblances have also been identified in other immune-mediated inflammatory diseases where a common genetic component has been found. Thus, we decided to evaluate for the first time this shared genetic architecture with SSc.

Objectives: Childhood obesity is thought to influence pubertal development, according to observational studies. However, the exact causal relationship remains unclear due to the complexity of factors affecting pubertal development.
Methods: To explore the association between exposure (childhood obesity) and outcome (delayed puberty, height), we utilized various methods, including inverse-variance weighted (IVW), weighted median, weighted mode, and MR Egger regression.
