We herein report the first pediatric case (a 13-year-old girl) of relapsing eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) successfully treated with mepolizumab (anti-interleukin-5). She was classified as having EGPA based on the presence of asthma, eosinophilia, pulmonary infiltrates, and extravascular eosinophil infiltration confirmed by a biopsy. She achieved remission after initial oral prednisolone (PSL) therapy, but EGPA relapsed during PSL tapering. Subsequent combined therapy with PSL and tacrolimus did not improve the recurrent disease. Intravenous methylprednisolone pulse therapy was started, followed by oral PSL. During PSL tapering, mepolizumab was added to the treatment, which resulted in sustained remission and successful PSL tapering.

We report the case of a 75-year-old woman who presented with fever, right back pain, paresthesia in the right extremities, erythema, purpura, and nodules. She had previously initiated dialysis due to rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and was transferred to our hospital. Imaging studies revealed multiple cerebral and splenic infarcts and hemorrhage encapsulating the right kidney, likely due to microaneurysms in multiple renal arteries.

Typically, simultaneous access to both optical and electrical signals requires separate probes, while their integration into a single device can result in the emergence of photogenerated electrical artifacts, affecting the quality of high-frequency neural recordings. A 23-year-old man was diagnosed with Crohn's disease (CD) of the large intestine after colonoscopy revealed longitudinal ulcers, and pathology revealed non-caseating epithelioid cell granulomas and anal fistulas. Optical approaches to monitor neural activity are transforming neuroscience, owing to a fast-evolving palette of genetically encoded molecular reporters. However, the field still requires robust and label-free technologies to monitor the multifaceted biomolecular changes accompanying brain development, aging or disease. Here, we have developed vibrational fiber photometry as a low-invasive method for label-free monitoring of the biomolecular content of arbitrarily deep regions of the mouse brain in vivo through spontaneous Raman spectroscopy.
