A series of electrostatically enhanced phosphoric acid catalysts were synthesized and studied. These compounds possess two positively charged -octylpyridinium or triarylphosphonium ion centers at the 3,3'-positions of the ()-BINOL backbone to enhance reactivity and provide needed steric bulk for enantioselective transformations. Catalytic activities for Friedel-Crafts alkylations of indoles with -nitrostyrenes were studied. Both types of catalysts accelerate reaction conversions relative to noncharged analogues, and good enantioselectivities up to 90% ee are observed with the phosphonium-ion-tagged phosphoric acids. This transformation also can be scaled up to synthetically useful amounts, affording >250 mg of product without losing any reactivity or selectivity.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths globally and a key hindrance to extending life expectancy. Celastrol (CEL) demonstrates excellent antitumor activity, but faces challenges like low solubility and a narrow therapeutic window, limiting its clinical application. To address these limitations, drug combinations and nano-delivery systems have emerged as effective solutions.

Processed cheese faces challenges related to short shelf life and susceptibility to microbial contamination during room temperature storage. Nisin, a natural antimicrobial peptide used for food preservation, exhibits limited sustained activity and a narrow antimicrobial spectrum, making its enhancement essential. To address these issues, this study employed electrostatic self-assembly technology to develop chitosan-pectin nanoparticles loaded with nisin (CNP) to improve processed cheese stability at room temperature.

This work aims to optimize encapsulation of Zanthoxylum schinifolium essential oil (ZSEO) in microcapsule to enhance its stability and slow-release capability. Herein, the ZSEO microcapsules stabilized by bacterial cellulose nanofibrils/whey protein isolate (BCNFs/WPI) complexes and modified by cinnamaldehyde (CA) were successfully prepared via spray drying. The microcapsules formed by 1.

In this study, we report the modification of a monolithic γ-aluminum oxy-hydroxide (γ-AlOOH) aerogel with cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) using the sol-gel method via supercritical drying. The optimized 2% CNF (w/w) results in a monolithic CNF-γ-AlOOH that is amorphous in nature, along with C-C and C-O-C functional groups. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of the as-synthesized CNF-γ-AlOOH showed CNF embedded in the γ-AlOOH aerogel.
