Two practical and high-yielding syntheses of 9-phosphatriptycene are reported. In both approaches, the key step is based on the cyclization of a (tris)lithio-triphenylmethane or a (tris)lithio-triphenylphosphine intermediate on a phosphorus or a carbon electrophile, respectively. The association of 9-phosphatriptycene with representative boron- and carbon-centered Lewis acids was investigated by IR, NMR, and UV-vis titration experiments and by computational methods, shedding light on its steric hindrance, σ-donating ability, and Brønsted and Lewis basicities.

Defluorination reactions are increasingly vital due to the extensive use of organofluorine compounds with robust carbon-fluorine (C-F) bonds; particularly, the efficient defluorination of widespread and persistent per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances under mild conditions is crucial due to their accumulation in the environment and human body. Herein, we demonstrate that surface-modified silicate of pronounced proton affinity can confine active hydrogen (•H) onto nanoscale zerovalent iron (nZVI) by withdrawing electrons from nZVI to react with bound protons, generating confined active hydrogen (•H) for efficient defluorination under ambient conditions. The exposed silicon cation (Si) of silicate functions as a Lewis acid site to activate the C-F bond by forming Si.

The enantioselective synthesis of 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds continues to pose a significant challenge in organic synthesis, and a catalytic process which generates two adjacent stereogenic centers with full stereochemical control is lacking until now. The 1,4-relationship of the functional groups requires an Umpolung strategy as one of the α-carbonyl positions has to be inverted into an electrophilic center to react with a normal enolate. We report herein the highly enantio- and diastereoselective addition of silyl ketene acetals toward electrophilic 1-azaallyl cations to furnish chiral 4-hydrazonoesters, which are masked 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds.

The unexpected PD-L1 suppression function of celery-derived extracellular vesicles improves lung cancer chemotherapy efficacy.

Extracell Vesicles Circ Nucl Acids

November 2024

State Key Laboratory of Systems Medicine for Cancer, Renji Hospital, School of Medicine and School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200030, China.

The article explores celery-derived extracellular vesicles (CDEVs), characterized by high cellular uptake, low immunogenicity, and high stability, as a therapeutic strategy for antitumor nanomedicines. The methods employed in this study include cell experiments such as co-culture, Western Blot, and flow cytometry. experiments were conducted in C57BL/6 tumor-bearing mice subcutaneously injected with Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) cells.

Direct conversion of dinitrogen (N) into N-containing compounds beyond ammonia under ambient conditions remains a longstanding challenge. Herein, we present a Lewis acid-promoted strategy for diverse nitrogen-element bonds formation from N using chromium dinitrogen complex [Cp*(IPrMe)Cr(N)]K (1). With the help of Lewis acids AlMe and BF, we successfully trap a series of fleeting diazenido intermediates and synthesize value-added compounds containing N-B, N-Ge, and N-P bonds with 3 d metals, offering a method for isolating unstable intermediates.

In this Frontier Article, the work carried out within our research group in Bologna in the field of surface decorated metal carbonyl clusters will be outlined and put in a more general context. After a short Introduction, clusters composed of a metal carbonyl core decorated on the surface by metal-ligand fragments will be analyzed. Both metal-ligand fragments behaving as Lewis acids and Lewis bases will be considered.
