Article Synopsis
  • D6-[F]FP-(+)-DTBZ is a new imaging agent designed for PET scans that helps diagnose Parkinson's disease (PD) by tracking VMAT2 transporters in the brain.
  • In a study, this radioligand demonstrated efficient production, high purity, and distinct uptake in brain regions associated with PD, showing a greater effectiveness compared to its non-deuterated counterpart.
  • The findings suggest that D6-[F]FP-(+)-DTBZ could serve as a safer, more effective tool for monitoring VMAT2 levels in monoamine neurons, potentially improving PD diagnosis.

ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165  nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16  TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter.

Article Synopsis
  • Mg-1 wt.% Li-1 wt.% Ca (LX11) and Mg-4 wt.% Li-1 wt.% Ca (LX41) alloys have the same crystalline structure, but their microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion rates differ, which are studied through various experimental methods.
  • The LX11 alloy features finer α-Mg grains and better corrosion resistance compared to LX41, along with a slight decrease in yield strength but improved elongation to failure with increased lithium content.
  • The study suggests that the release rates of metal ions during corrosion change over time and cannot accurately represent the corrosion rates due to the formation of precipitated corrosion products.

A measurement system for a distance insensitive acquisition of the reflectance from turbid media is presented. The geometric relationships of the detection unit are discussed theoretically and subsequently verified using Monte Carlo simulations. In addition, an experimental setup is presented to prove the theoretical considerations and simulations.

The use of structured light projection enables the reconstruction of three-dimensional topography of surface reflecting objects. However, if the investigated object exhibits volume scattering, the obtained topography is erroneously caused by light undergoing volume scattering inside the object. In this theoretical study, we investigate these errors using Monte Carlo simulations.
