NiO/ZnO gas-sensing nanotube materials were prepared by electrospinning. The structure and morphology of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energydispersive X-ray detection (EDX) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. The template, PAN (peroxyacetyl nitrate) fibers, was completely removed, as evidenced by the EDX results. The final NiO/ZnO composite materials were composed of hexagonal wurtzite ZnO and cubic NiO and exhibited hollow tubular structures. In the composites, heterojunctions were formed at the interface of NiO and ZnO. The results of gas sensitivity tests showed that the incorporation of NiO considerably improved the gas sensitivity of ZnO to ethanol. When the doping ratio was 0.125 mol/mol, the composites exhibited the highest sensitivity to ethanol (100.92 at 300 °C) and showed high selectivity.

Background: Treatment of deep carious lesions poses significant challenges in dentistry, as complete lesion removal risks compromising pulp vitality, while selective removal often reduces the longevity of restorations. Herein, we propose a minimally invasive approach using High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for microscale removal of carious dentine. Concurrently, HIFU's antimicrobial effects against associated cariogenic biofilms and the corresponding thermal and biological impacts on surrounding tissues were investigated.

Background: Staphylococcus aureus, a known contributor to non-healing wounds, releases vesicles (SAVs) that influence the delicate balance of host-pathogen interactions. Efferocytosis, a process by which macrophages clear apoptotic cells, plays a key role in successful wound healing. However, the precise impact of SAVs on wound repair and efferocytosis remains unknown.

Background: Skeletal muscle injury caused by excessive exercise is one of the most commonly seen clinical diseases. It is indispensable to explore drugs for treating and relieving skeletal muscle injury. Gallic acid (GA) is a polyphenolic extract that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant biological activities.

Background: This in vitro study evaluated the efficacy of professional and home-use fluoride regimens for protecting irradiated enamel, undergoing pH cycling resembling xerostomia.
Methods: Sixty human premolar teeth were irradiated with a total dose of 70 Gy and subsequently sectioned into 3 × 3 cm enamel slabs. These slabs were randomly distributed into five groups (n = 12 per group): professional-use groups received fluoride varnish either weekly (FV1) or biweekly (FV2); home-use groups applied 5000 ppm (FT5) or 1450 ppm (FT) fluoride toothpaste; and a control group (control) received no treatment.

Background And Aim: Zinc oxide and copper oxide nanoparticles are known for their promising biological activities. This study aims to synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles and copper-doped zinc oxide nanoparticles to harness the combined cytotoxic and anticancer effects of them in vitro and in vivo studies.
Methods: Zinc oxide nanoparticles, both doped and undoped, were synthesized using a chemical co-precipitation method.
