Background: Infertility, an escalating public health issue, exacerbates psychological distress, especially anxiety, among affected individuals. This study explores the intricate relationships between family function, self-efficacy, and social support in moderating anxiety levels in male infertility patients. Understanding these dynamics offers valuable insights for crafting effective psychological interventions.

Background: We compared the efficacy and safety profiles of ainuovirine (ANV), a new-generation non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), with boosted elvitegravir (EVG), both coformulated with two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), in people living with HIV-1 (PLWH) who had achieved virological suppression on previous NNRTI-based antiretroviral (ARV) regimen.

Methods: This study was a multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, active-controlled, non-inferiority trial recruiting PLWH from 10 clinical centres across China. Main inclusion criteria included age of 18-65 years (inclusive), and stably staying on an ARV regimen combining an NNRTI with a two-drug NRTI backbone for at least 12 months.

Objective To compare the prevalence and disease burden of thyroid cancer and their trends between China and the globe from 1990 to 2019.Methods With the global disease burden data in 2019,Joinpoint was used to predict the trends of the disease burden of thyroid cancer in China and the globe from 1990 to 2019,and logarithmic linear model was used to test the predicted trends. The R language was used for predictive analysis and graphic plotting of the disease burden from 2020 to 2035.

Article Synopsis
  • Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is effective in treating acute ischemic stroke caused by large vessel occlusion, but patient outcomes can vary, prompting the need for preoperative prediction models to identify which patients may benefit most from the treatment.
  • This study aimed to develop a predictive model for MT outcomes using machine learning techniques, specifically employing the Shapley additive explanation (SHAP) method for better interpretability of the results.
  • The research found that the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) model was the most accurate, achieving an AUC of 0.93 in training and 0.77 in testing, with key factors influencing outcomes being ischemic core volume, baseline NHISS score, ischemic penumbra volume,

The study investigated how a group of 27 Wuhan citizens employed metaphors to communicate about their lived experiences of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic through in-depth individual interviews. The analysis of metaphors reflected the different kinds of emotional states and psychological conditions of the research participants, focusing on their mental imagery of COVID-19, extreme emotional experiences, and symbolic behaviors under the pandemic. The results show that multiple metaphors were used to construe emotionally-complex, isolating experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
