Room-temperature spin-based electronics is the vision of spintronics. Presently, there are few suitable material systems. Herein, we reveal that solution-processed mixed-phase Ruddlesden-Popper perovskite thin-films transcend the challenges of phonon momentum-scattering that limits spin-transfer in conventional semiconductors. This highly disordered system exhibits a remarkable efficient ultrafast funneling of photoexcited spin-polarized excitons from two-dimensional (2D) to three-dimensional (3D) phases at room temperature. We attribute this efficient exciton relaxation pathway towards the lower energy states to originate from the energy transfer mediated by intermediate states. This process bypasses the omnipresent phonon momentum-scattering in typical semiconductors with stringent band dispersion, which causes the loss of spin information during thermalization. Film engineering using graded 2D/3D perovskites allows unidirectional out-of-plane spin-funneling over a thickness of ~600 nm. Our findings reveal an intriguing family of solution-processed perovskites with extraordinary spin-preserving energy transport properties that could reinvigorate the concepts of spin-information transfer.

Ultrafast Polarization-Resolved Phonon Dynamics in Monolayer Semiconductors.

Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide semiconductors exhibit unique valleytronic properties interacting strongly with chiral phonons that break time-reversal symmetry. Here, we observed the ultrafast dynamics of linearly and circularly polarized (Γ) phonons at the Brillouin zone center in single-crystalline monolayer WS, excited by intense, resonant, and polarization-tunable terahertz pulses and probed by time-resolved anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy. We separated the coherent phonons producing directional sum-frequency generation from the incoherent phonon population emitting scattered photons.

The temporal characters of laser-driven phase transition from 2H to 1T^{'} has been investigated in the prototype MoTe_{2} monolayer. This process is found to be induced by fundamental electron-phonon interactions, with an unexpected phonon excitation and coupling pathway closely related to the nonequilibrium relaxation of photoexcited electrons. The order-to-order phase transformation is dissected into three substages, involving energy and momentum scattering processes from optical (A_{1}^{'} and E^{'}) to acoustic phonon modes [LA(M)] in subpicosecond timescale.

Highly mobile hot charge carriers are a prerequisite for efficient hot carrier optoelectronics requiring long-range hot carrier transport. However, hot carriers are typically much less mobile than cold ones because of carrier-phonon scattering. Here, we report enhanced hot carrier mobility in CsAgBiBr double perovskite.

Effect of Composition on the Spin Relaxation of Lead Halide Perovskites.

Lead halide perovskites have been promising candidates in spintronics applications; however, the mechanism of spin relaxation is still unclear. Here, we compare the temperature-dependent spin dynamics of four perovskite films (XPbY) with different compositions (X = CHNH, Cs; Y = I, Br). The room-temperature net spin lifetime is found to increase as the molar mass decreases, indicating the dominant role of spin orbital coupling in their spin relaxation.
