Background: Antidepressants are a primary treatment for depression, yet prescribing them poses significant challenges due to the absence of clear guidelines for selecting the most suitable option for individual patients. This study aimed to analyze prescribing patterns for antidepressants across healthcare providers, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists, to better understand the complex factors influencing these patterns in the management of depression.

Methods: Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression was employed to identify variables that explained the variation in the prescribed antidepressants, utilizing a large number of claims.

Background: Dental caries (DC) is a significant common disease of the oral cavity. Recently, researchers have focused more on the impact of poor sleep habits on the incidence and development of DC, which aroused our interest in the study of the correlation and causal relationship between sleep and dental caries.

Methods: In this study, Linkage disequilibrium score (LDSC) regression method was used to found the genetic correlation between different sleep traits and DC, while bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) methods were used to explore the causal relationship.

Objective: One of the common symptoms of mood disorders is insomnia, and the recovery processes can be negatively impacted by a lack of restorative sleep. Although factors related to restorative sleep in healthy subjects have been investigated, evaluations of these factors in patients with depression have been rarely done. Patients with depression are known to have sleep-wake state discrepancy, which can further influence their restorative sleep beyond that associated with depressive symptoms.

Sleep is a fundamental phenomenon that helps maintain normal physiological processes. Conversely, sleep disorders, usually presented as insomnia, are a common public health problem that can lead to multiple pathophysiological changes in humans, including lipid metabolic abnormality. Interestingly, several previous studies have examined the potential relation of insomnia to metabolic syndrome and hyperlipidemia and found that insomnia was associated with elevated plasma cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations.
