The adoption of electronic medical records (EMRs) resulted in both improvement and deterioration of different aspects of patient-provider interactions. We envision further integration of current and future technology to optimize patient-provider interactions, which we present using a hypothetical patient encounter.

Background: Patient satisfaction is a critical indicator of healthcare quality, including high-quality antenatal care (ANC), and it directly impacts care continuity and health outcomes. This study assessed the satisfaction levels of pregnant women with ANC services provided at primary healthcare centers (PHCs) within the Qassim Health Cluster, Saudi Arabia.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 646 pregnant women attending ANC services in the Qassim region.
Internet of Things (IoT) is changing patient engagement in healthcare by shifting from traditional care models to a continuous, technology-driven approach using IoT-based Remote Monitoring Systems (IoT-RMS). This research seeks to redefine patient engagement by examining how Internet of Things (IoT) technologies can impact healthcare management and patient-provider interactions at different phases. Additionally, it presents the relationship between patient engagement stages and IoT-RMS, which promotes patients' active participation using technological health management tools.

Background: Respectful, equitable, and supportive health care team interactions with patients and their companions are a key part of quality health care services. Despite the importance of communication and other aspects of engagement during inpatient postpartum care, little is known about how care is experienced during this period from families' perspectives.
Methods: This study collected video and audio data with 15 birthing families (n = 9 English-speaking and n = 6 Spanish-speaking) and their health care team members during inpatient postpartum care in a southeastern United States academic medical center.
