This mini-review examines the available papers about virtual reality (VR) as a tool for the diagnosis or therapy of neurodevelopmental disorders, focusing on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD). Through a search on literature, we selected 62 studies published between 1998 and 2024. After exclusion criteria, our synoptic table includes 32 studies on ADHD (17 were on diagnostic evaluation and 15 were on therapeutic interventions), 2 on pure ASD, and 2 on pure SLD.

On the other hand, Latin America lacks studies on autism because the instruments for its detection and diagnosis have not been psychometrically validated. This study aimed to analyze the differences in ASD traits among individuals in Spain and Colombia, with results indicating no significant differences in sample characteristics regarding age, sex, and type of ASD.

The aetiology of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is heterogeneous and is attributed to the concurrent interaction of a number of genetic and environmental factors. The steady increase in ASD rates in recent years makes the detection and study of environmental risk factors increasingly important. This systematic review identifies potential environmental factors associated with ASD focusing specifically on recent studies conducted in selected Southern European countries.

People with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), face several difficulties entering the workforce; yet when provided with appropriate support programs, can be expected to benefit from vocational rehabilitation and become independent. In this systematic literature review, supported employment programs and interventions related to the training and enhancement of vocational skills in adolescents and young adults with ASD were identified and evaluated.
