Background: Recent research on preventing cognitive decline has focused on lifestyle interventions, with first studies indicating cognitive benefits and suggesting a positive link between adherence to the interventions and their effectiveness. The purpose of this study was to analyse possible predictors of this very adherence to single components of a multi-domain lifestyle intervention.
Methods: A total of n = 317 participants of the intervention group were included, characterized with an age ≥60 (mean age 68.

Background: Dementia prevalence is projected to treble worldwide by 2040 highlighting the critical need for effective primary dementia prevention strategies. Initiatives to shape health behaviours/beliefs in childhood increase likelihood of engagement in healthy lifestyle behaviours during adulthood however some subgroups of children are more vulnerable to poor brain health during ageing. Therefore, children must have opportunities to learn about how they can engage in behaviours to improve cardiovascular and psychological health that will protect their brain as they age, contributing to dementia risk reduction (DRR) in later life.

Background: Dementia has sparked interest in identifying modifiable risk factors. It has been proposed that the number of teeth could play a crucial role in cognitive decline, suggesting possible mechanisms such as nutritional influence, inflammation, and neuronal feedback.
Methods: We performed a systematic literature search in January 2024 in PubMed, Scopus and Embase to search observational studies that reported the association between number of teeth and dementia or cognitive decline.

Background: Plasma amyloid-beta (Aβ) 42/40 ratio and phosphorylated tau 181 (pTau181) are promising blood biomarkers for AD. Compared to heterogenous clinical phenotypes, they are more objective and proximal to the pathological hallmarks of Aβ plaques and tau tangles. Biomarker-guided clustering using Aβ42/40 and pTau181 can potentially establish subpopulations that share similar mechanisms of AD and treatment responses.
