Proficiency at planning is known to be part of the exceptionally complex predatory repertoire of , a genus of jumping spiders (Salticidae) that specialize in preying on other spiders. This includes proficiency at choosing between two detour routes, with only one leading to otherwise inaccessible prey. Less is known about 's proficiency at making strategic decisions pertaining to whether a detour is required or not. Using , we investigated this by having lures (prey or leaf pieces) visible at the beginning of a trial but not later, and by using water to restrict 's freedom of movement. A detour path was always present, but sometimes a causeway was also present, allowing direct access to lures. After seeing prey, more often took the causeway when present and, when absent, more often took the detour path. After seeing leaf pieces, never took the detour path.

Introduction: Path planning algorithms are challenging to implement with mobile robots in orchards due to kinematic constraints and unstructured environments with narrow and irregularly distributed obstacles.

Methods: To address these challenges and ensure operational safety, a local path planning method for orchard mowers is proposed in this study. This method accounts for the structural characteristics of the mowing operation route and utilizes a path-velocity decoupling method for local planning based on following the global reference operation route, which includes two innovations.

Goal-directed behavior requires adaptive systems that respond to environmental demands. In the absence of threat (or presence of reward), individuals can explore many behavioral trajectories, effectively interrogating the environment across multiple dimensions. This leads to flexible, relational memory encoding and retrieval.

Assisting individuals in their daily activities through autonomous mobile robots is a significant concern, especially for users without specialized knowledge. Specifically, the capability of a robot to navigate to destinations based on human speech instructions is crucial. Although robots can take different paths toward the same objective, the shortest path is not always the most suitable.

Our present understanding of electrocution followed a long path of detours and speculation. It is now hard to appreciate how mysterious was an unexpected sudden death-without visible trauma-and we should be sympathetic to the surprising theories that came from well-intentioned attempts to find something in the autopsy of an electrocution victim. The early hypotheses (1880s) tended to favor effects on the central nervous system, but the emphasis switched to arterial and hematological mechanisms as well as respiratory arrest (ie, asphyxia) along with a widespread publication debate.
