Carnosol, a phenolic diterpene, is one of the main constituents of . It is known to possess a range of bioactivities, including antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Nevertheless, the antiaging effects of carnosol have received little attention. This study first indicated that carnosol increased the healthspan of (). First, compared with the control condition, carnosol treatment effectively decreased ROS accumulation under normal or oxidative stress condition, significantly increased several key antioxidant enzyme activities, and significantly decreased MDA content. Second, carnosol effectively prolonged lifespan under normal and stress conditions and slowed aging-related declines, including mobility, age pigmentation, and neurodegenerative disease, but had no effect on fertility and fat deposition. Finally, carnosol-mediated longevity required the upregulated expression of , , , , and and was dependent on the gene. Increased DAF-16 translocation was observed, but was independent of the effects on lifespan induced by carnosol. These results suggested that carnosol might serve as a good source of natural antioxidants, and in particular, carnosol could be explored as a potential dietary supplement to slow aging.

Carnosol (CO) and carnosic acid (CA) are pharmaceutically important diterpenes predominantly produced in members of Lamiaceae, Salvia officinalis (garden sage), Salvia fruticosa and Rosmarinus officinalis. Nevertheless, availability of these compounds in plant system is very low. In an effort to improve the in planta content of these diterpenes in garden sage, SmERF6 (Salvia miltiorrhiza Ethylene Responsive Factor 6) transcription factor was expressed heterologously.

Septic shock involves severe systemic inflammatory reaction toward various invading species, such as microorganisms and microbial toxins. Such a response is complicated and characterized as being a dynamic and time-dependent phenomenon. During this response, a significant amount of pro-inflammatory cytokines may be produced, causing a rapid death rate in septic victims and occasionally leading to apoptosis of immune cells within the first hours of septic reaction.

Background: Rosemary extracts are derived from the leaves of Rosmarinus officinalis and commonly employed as natural food preservative. They serve as natural antioxidants in food, preventing spoilage and extending shelf life.
Objective: This study aimed to develop a modified QuEChERS extraction with liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry for the analysis of rosemary extracts in food as sum of its markers Carnosol and Carnosic Acid.

The important constituents of rosemary herb extract are carnosic acid (CarA), carnosol (Car) and rosmanol (Ros), which are burdensome to the human body when consumed in excessive amounts. Using a computer-assisted method, we prepared 3B10-antibody with both broad-spectrum and high affinity for CarA, Car and Ros with median inhibitory concentration of 0.41 ng/mL, 0.

The use of the common anticancer drug cisplatin (CP) in clinical practice often leads to acute kidney injury (AKI); however, no protective therapy is available. Therefore, new drugs that reduce the nephrotoxicity induced by CP are urgently needed. Carnosol (CA) is an antioxidant found.
