Both Behçet's disease (BD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) are diseases associated with nitric oxide (NO). We hypothesized that the comorbidity of MDD affects the levels of NO in BD. In this study, we investigate whether there was a difference in NO levels among BD patients with accompanying MDD, BD patients with no depressive symptoms and healthy control group. There was a significant difference in NO levels among BD and control group ( < 0.05). Also, there was a significant difference between the BD group with MDD and BD group without psychiatric comorbidity in terms of NO levels ( < 0.05). This study is interesting as it demonstrates that accompanying psychiatric comorbidity puts an additional NO burden on the shoulders of BD patients.

Objectives: The objective was to estimate the excess formal social costs or direct non-healthcare costs of dementia-related neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS).
Methods: The presence of dementia, NPS, antipsychotic and/or antidepressant use, somatic and psychiatric comorbidities, and formal social benefits were studied in a region-wide cohort of all over-60-year-olds. A random forest-based algorithm identified NPS and two-part regression models and entropy balance were used.

Unipolar depression is typically regarded as a psychiatric disorder, yet it frequently coexists with various major diseases. This study employs a Disease-Wide Association Study (DWAS) approach to map the disease continuum surrounding unipolar depression, analyzing data from a registry cohort of 392,423 individuals, including 43,280 diagnosed cases of unipolar depression. Significant associations were identified between depression and comorbidities across multiple organ systems, including both mental and physical disorders.
