: Dickkopf 1 (DKK1) functions as a natural antagonist of the canonical Wnt/β-catenin pathway. The purpose of this study was to examine the expression of DKK1 in vitreous samples of patients with pathological myopia, in order to search for possible correlations between DKK1 and axial length.: The expression of DKK1 and other cytokines in vitreous samples of 44 non-myopic eyes, 42 eyes with low-to-moderate myopia, and 51 eyes with pathological myopia were examined using multiplex cytokine detection technology. Ophthalmologic characteristics, including axial length and subfoveal choroidal thickness, were clinically measured for further analysis.: The intravitreous levels of DKK1 ( < .0001) were markedly higher in the pathological myopia group than in the control group. There were no differences of DKK1 levels in different vitreoretinal conditions. Additionally, we found that the DKK1 levels were positively correlated with HGF (β = 0.268, = .032), and TIMP-3 (β = 0.209, = .047) levels, as well as with axial length (β = 0.714, < .0001) in the pathological myopia group.: Elevated levels of DKK1 were found in the eyes with elongated axial length.

Myopia is one of the dominant causes of visual impairment in the world. Pathological myopia could even lead to other serious eye diseases. Researchers have reached a consensus that myopia could be caused by both environmental and genetic risk factors.

Methods: Patients with highly myopic cataract (axial length > 26 mm) were enrolled in this prospective study. Thirty-one eyes (31 patients) received implantation of a trifocal IOL (AcrySof IQ PanOptix TFNT00).

Cataracts can reduce the quality of vision in visually impaired patients who already have a visual impairment. The most common causes of low vision include age-related macular degeneration (AMD), high myopia (HM), diabetic retinopathy (DR), glaucoma (GL), and inherited degenerative ocular diseases. The surgery aims to improve their independence, quality of life, and ability to engage in daily, social, and work activities.

Purpose: This study aims to examine the correlation between specific clinical parameters, such as axial eye length, and the onset of ocular hypertension "OH" following the use of silicone oil filling in patients with high myopia.
Method: In this retrospective analysis, we reviewed 214 eyes from 432 patients diagnosed with severe myopia, all of whom underwent vitrectomy and were treated with silicone oil filling. The study aimed to document the incidence and timing of postoperative ocular hypertension "OH" while assessing various factors, including demographic details, medical history, additional surgical interventions, and findings from supplementary examinations (such as axial length, silicone oil emulsification, and anterior chamber penetration).

Background: In recent years, with the rapid development of machine learning (ML), it has gained widespread attention from researchers in clinical practice. ML models appear to demonstrate promising accuracy in the diagnosis of complex diseases, as well as in predicting disease progression and prognosis. Some studies have applied it to ophthalmology, primarily for the diagnosis of pathologic myopia and high myopia-associated glaucoma, as well as for predicting the progression of high myopia.
