Acoustic radiation forces (ARFs) induced by a single Bessel beam with arbitrary order and location on a nonspherical shape are studied using the T-matrix method (TMM) in three dimensions. Based on the radiation stress tensor approach and the multipole expansion method for the arbitrary Bessel beam, the ARF expressions are derived in terms of the incident and scattered beam shape coefficients independently with the corresponding homemade code packages. Several numerical experiments are conducted to verify the versatility of the TMM. The axial ARFs of several typical shapes are considered in the analysis, with the emphasis on the axial ARF reversal and the corresponding physical mechanism. This study may guide the experimental setup to find negative axial ARFs quickly and effectively based on the predicted parameters with TMM. Relatively elongated shapes may be helpful for pulling forces in Bessel beams. Furthermore, the lateral ARFs for both convex and concave nonspherical shapes are also investigated with different topological charges, cone angles, and offsets of the particle centroid to the beam axis in a broadband frequency regime. A brief theoretical derivation of the incident beam shape coefficients for the standing Bessel beams is also given. The present work could help to design the acoustic tweezers numerical toolbox, which provides an acoustical alternative to the optical tweezers toolbox.

This study presents a generalized design strategy for novel terahertz-wave polarization space-division multiplexing meta-devices, functioning as multi-polarization generators, modulators, and analyzers. It introduces the spin-decoupled phase control method by combining gradient phase design with circular polarization multiplexing techniques, enabling exceptional flexibility in controlling the polarization directions and spatial distributions of multiple output beams. The meta-device M-4D is significantly demonstrated as proof of concept, which converts an incident linearly polarized wave into four beams with distinct polarization angles.

Analytical solutions for acoustic vortex beams radiated by sources with uniform circular amplitude distributions are derived in the paraxial approximation. Evaluation of the Fresnel diffraction integral in the far field of an unfocused source and in the focal plane of a focused source leads to solutions in terms of an infinite series of Bessel functions for orbital numbers ℓ>-2. These solutions are reduced to closed forms for 0≤ℓ≤4, which correspond to orbital numbers commonly used in experiments.

Whispering-gallery mode (WGM) resonators, renowned for their high Q-factors and narrow line widths, are widely utilized in integrated photonics. Integrating diffraction gratings onto WGM cavities has gained significant attention because these gratings function as azimuthal refractive index modulators, enabling single-mode WGM emissions and supporting beams with orbital angular momentum (OAM). The introduction of curved grating structures facilitates guided mode resonances by coupling high-order diffracted waves with leaking modes from the waveguide.

Microlens array (MLA), through which all the sub-beams are focused, is widely used in multi-electron-beam systems. In this work, based on the differential algebraic (DA) method, we propose an approach in calculating the high-order aberrations for both axial and off-axial microlenses, considering the multipole fields that are introduced by the neighborhood structures in MLA, as well as the rotationally symmetric field. To perform the DA calculation, the electric fields of the microlenses are analyzed by using the azimuthal Fourier analysis and the Fourier-Bessel series Expansion.
