The investigation of the photoelectron circular dichroism (PECD) in the strong field regime (800 nm, 6.9 × 10 W/cm) on methyloxirane (MOX) reveals a flip of the sign of PECD between different fragmentation channels. This finding is of great importance for future experiments and applications in chemistry or pharmacy using PECD in the strong field regime as analysis method. We suggest that the observed sign change of PECD is not caused by ionization from different orbitals but by effectively selecting differently oriented nonisotropic subsamples of molecules via the fragmentation channel.

Dung predicts the global distribution of herbivore grazing pressure in drylands.

Nat Food

January 2025

Laboratorio de Biodiversidad y Funcionamiento Ecosistémico, Instituto de Recursos Naturales y Agrobiología de Sevilla (IRNAS), CSIC, Sevilla, Spain.

Dryland grazing sustains millions of people worldwide but, when poorly managed, threatens food security. Here we combine livestock and wild herbivore dung mass data from surveys at 760 dryland sites worldwide, representing independent measurements of herbivory, to generate high-resolution maps. We show that livestock and wild herbivore grazing is globally disconnected, and identify hotspots of herbivore activity across Africa, the Eurasian grasslands, India, Australia and the United States.

Angle-controlled strong and weak coupling in photon molecules.

Strong light-matter coupling occurs when the rate of energy exchange between the electromagnetic mode and the molecular ensemble exceeds the competitive dissipation process. Coupled photon molecules with near-field light-matter interactions may produce new hybridized states when they reach the strong coupling region. Tunable Terahertz (THz) meta materials can be used to design sensors, optical modulators, etc.

Promotion of Triple Negative Breast Cancer Immunotherapy by Combining Bioactive Radicals with Immune Checkpoint Blockade.

Acta Biomater

January 2025

Institute of Breast Health Medicine, State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, West China Hospital, Sichuan University and Collaborative Innovation Center, Chengdu, Sichuan, China, 610041. Electronic address:

Although immunotherapy has revolutionized clinical cancer treatment, the efficacy is limited due to the lack of tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) and the presence of compensatory immune checkpoints. To overcome the deficiency, a nano-system loaded with ozone and CD47 inhibitor RRx-001 is designed and synthesized. Upon irradiation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated from ozone reacts with nitric oxide (NO) metabolized from RRx-001 to form reactive nitrogen species (RNS), which presents a much stronger cell-killing ability than ROS.

Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Arak University, Arak 38481-77584, Iran; Institute of Nanosciences &Nanotechnology, Arak University, Arak, Iran. Electronic address:

The rapid industrialization and human activities in catchments have posed notable global challenges in removing of heavy metal contaminants from wastewater. Here, Schiff-bases (SB) of cyanoguanidine (CG) and salicylaldehyde (SA) were covalently grafted on a magnetic nanocomposite of chitosan to form a hybrid magnetic nanostructure (FeO@CS-CGSB). The synthesized structure was characterized using various techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area analysis (BET).

Among the numerous measurements carried out during a well-logging procedure, the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) assessment is one of the fundamental analyses in determining the economic viability of a well for the oil industry. Nowadays, two reliable approaches, Wireline Logging (WL) and Logging While Drilling (LWD), stand out. WL comprises the acquisition of NMR data under static conditions.
