This data article includes raw and analyze data for molting duration and time of hardening of blue swimming crab, instar at three different temperatures of 24 °C, 28 °C, and 32 °C. Two sets of experimental data are included: first, the recorded on time-lapse video of duration of successful molted crabs (from emergence of swimming legs to chelae); and second, the time interval of shell hardening up to before molting occurred. Shell hardening were calculated in 1 h interval with a unit of hour molting crab, meanwhile the molting duration of the crabs were calculated in second molting crab. Video files were then analyzed using the latest version of Solomon Coder software developed by A. Peter. Relationship between culture temperature and the time of molting and carapace hardening are also included in this article. The dataset is made publicly available to enable critical or extended analyzes.

Extensive utilization of pesticides and their persistent residues inadvertently pose threats to the effectiveness and fitness of biocontrol agents in agroecosystems. However, these ecological consequences are generally disregarded when executing integrated pest management strategies (IPM). Cyantraniliprole (CNAP) serves as a wide-spectrum diamide insecticide and its sublethal effects have been well characterized on multiple insect pests, whereas its impacts on beneficial natural enemies remain unfathomed.

Parasitoids often exhibit high flexibility in their development depending on stages of their host at the parasitism, yet little is known about the mechanism underlying such flexibility. In the study, we evaluated the larval development time of the parasitoid Exorista sorbillans (Diptera: Tachinidae) on the lepidopteran model insect Bombyx mori (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae). We found that the development duration of E.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists use special diets to raise insects for research and education.
  • They found that storing these diets at certain temperatures and for certain lengths of time really affects how good the diets are for the insects.
  • The best temperatures for keeping the diets quality high were really cold ones like -20°C and 4°C, which helped the insects grow better over time.

Laboratorio de Entomología Médica, Departamento de Ciencias de la Naturaleza, Centro Universitario del Sur, Universidad de Guadalajara, Av. Enrique Arreola Silva 883, Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco 49000, México.

Triatomine bugs are vectors for the Trypanosoma cruzi Chagas parasites, the etiological agent for Chagas disease. This study evaluated 6 epidemiologically significant behaviors (development time, number of blood meals required for molting to the next instar, mortality rate, aggressiveness, feeding duration, and defecation delay) across 4 populations of Triatoma mexicana Herrich-Schaeffer (Heteroptera: Reduviidae), a major T. cruzi vector in Central Mexico.

Lufenuron, a benzoylurea chitin synthesis inhibitor, is effective against many insect pests. However, the insecticidal activity of lufenuron has not been completely elucidated, nor has its disturbing effect on chitin synthesis genes. In this study, bioassay results demonstrated an outstanding toxicity of lufenuron against Helicoverpa armigera larvae.
