Background: /aims. Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum (PXE, OMIM 264800) is an autosomal, recessive, metabolic disorder characterized by progressive ectopic calcification in the skin, the vasculature and Bruch's membrane. Variants in the ABCC6 gene are associated with low plasma pyrophosphate (PPi) concentration.

Animals infected with mycoplasma pneumoniae not only develop respiratory diseases, but also cause digestive diseases through the lung-gut axis mediated by the intestinal flora, and vice versa. Antimicrobial peptides are characterized by their bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, and intestinal flora-regulating properties. However, the effect of cecropin AD (CAD) against mycoplasma pneumonia remains unclear.

Aims: Osteoclast energy metabolism is a promising target for treating diseases characterized by high osteoclast activity, such as osteoporosis. However, the regulatory factors involved in osteoclast bioenergetic processes are still in the early stages of being fully understood. This study reveals the effects of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) on osteoclast energy metabolism.

Background And Purpose: Liquid self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS) face challenges related to stability, handling, and storage. In particular, lipophilic and unstable drugs, such as ramipril (RMP) and thymoquinone (THQ), face challenges in oral administration due to poor aqueous solubility and chemical instability. This study aimed to develop and optimize multi-layer self-nanoemulsifying pellets (ML-SNEP) to enhance the stability and dissolution of ramipril (RMP) and thymoquinone (THQ).

A "comb-dentition", characterized by long, needle-like, and closely-spaced teeth, is found in the ctenochasmatid pterosaurs as an adaptation for filter-feeding. However, little is known about their tooth replacement pattern, hindering our understanding of the development of the filter-feeding apparatus of the clade. Here, we describe the tooth replacement of the pterosaur Forfexopterus from the Jehol Biota based on high-resolution X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) reconstruction.
