Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) can increase the sensitivity of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), but it is challenging in the liquid state at high magnetic fields. In this study we demonstrate significant enhancements of NMR signals (up to 70 on 13C) in the liquid state by scalar Overhauser DNP at 14.1 T, with high resolution (∼0.1 ppm) and relatively large sample volume (∼100 μL).

Histological techniques to study muscle are crucial for assessing skeletal muscle health. To preserve tissue morphology, samples are usually fixed in formaldehyde or cryopreserved immediately after excision from the body. Freezing samples in liquid nitrogen, using isopentane as a mediator for efficient cooling, preserves the tissue in its natural state.

: to address the issue of burst drug release in antibiotic-loaded poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) bone cement (ALBC), this study involved preparation of novel PMMA bone cement and determination of its antibacterial activity, biocompatibility, compressive properties, maximum temperature, and setting time. : a novel acrylic monomer, which contains the 3,4-dichloro-5-hydroxyfuran-2(5)-one (DHF), was synthesized and utilized to develop non-leaching antibacterial PMMA bone cement (NLBC), designated as DHF-methacrylic acid (DHF-MAA) bone cement. In the preparation of this bone cement, DHF-MAA served as a key component of the liquid phase.

The ability to convert light to higher energies through triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA-UC) is attractive for a range of applications including solar energy harvesting, bioimaging and anti-counterfeiting. Practical applications require integration of the TTA-UC chromophores within a suitable host, which leads to a compromise between the high upconversion efficiencies achievable in liquids and the durability of solids. Herein, we present a series of methacrylate copolymers as TTA-UC hosts, in which the glass transition temperature ( ), and hence upconversion efficiency can be tuned by varying the co-monomer ratios (-hexyl methacrylate (HMA) and 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFEMA)).

Enhancing both ionic conductivity and mechanical robustness remains a major challenge in designing solid-state electrolytes for lithium batteries. This work presents a novel approach in designing mechanically robust and highly conductive solid-state electrolytes, which involves ionic liquid-based cross-linked polymer networks incorporating polymeric ionic liquids (PILs). First, linear PILs with different side groups were synthesized for optimizing the structure.

is a prevalent pathogen in both humans and marine species, exhibiting high adaptability to various adverse environmental conditions. Our previous studies have shown that Δ formed three enhanced biofilm types, including spectacular surface-attached biofilm (SB), scattered pellicle biofilm (PB), and colony rugosity. However, the precise mechanism through which regulates biofilm formation has remained unclear.
