Double contrast barium enema and colonoscopy are great value in the diagnosis of lesions of the colon, especially polyps. This study involved 73 patients. The results were in agreement in 71,2% of cases and disagreed in 23,3%. In 5,5%, colonoscopy was technically inadequate. Classical barium enema remains indicated for the detection of carcinoma or in elderly or bedridden individuals. By contrast, barium enema should be replaced by double contrast study in the aetiological evaluation of rectal bleeding. In our own series, the diagnosis was positive in 92% of cases as long as both the radiological and endoscopic techniques were used.

Introduction: Achalasia, a rare esophageal disorder with an annual incidence of 0.11 per 100,000 in children, is characterized by impaired lower esophageal sphincter (LES) relaxation and peristalsis. Infantile cases are extremely uncommon and often linked to genetic conditions like Allgrove and Down syndrome.

Methods: This was an experimental anatomic study done between July 2019 and July 2021 with a retrospective review of CT scans. Twenty postcontrast CT scans in client-owned dogs, unrelated to this study, were evaluated for identification of a potential angiosome over the hip region.
Scaffolds are of great interest in tissue engineering associated with regenerative medicine owing to their ability to mimic biological structures and provide support for new tissue formation. Several techniques are used to produce biological scaffolds; among them, far-field electrospinning (FFES) process is widely used due to its versatility in producing promising structures similar to native tissues owing to the electrospun nanofibers. On the other hand, near-field electrospinning (NFES) has been investigated due to the possibility of creating scaffolds with suitable architecture for their use in specific biological tissues.

Background: Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes impair cellular regeneration in multiple tissues including skeletal muscle. The molecular basis for this impairment is largely unknown. Glucose uptake via glucose transporter GLUT4 is impaired in insulin resistance.

The barium complex [Ba{N(SiMe)}] has been used to catalyse the dehydropolymerisation of the phosphine-functionalised hydrosilane 4-PhP-CHSiH (A) with the α,ω-diamine 1,4-(CHNHMe)-CH (C), for the production of -[Si(4-CHPPh)H-N(Me)CH-CH-CHN(Me)]- polycarbosilazanes that contain dangling phosphino groups along the polymer backbone. The comonomers A and C, specifically prepared for this purpose and comprehensively characterised, lend themselves well to barium-promoted dehydrocoupling catalysis. They allow for the formation of linear, amine-capped polymers with molecular weights in the range 4000-8000 g mol, as estimated by DOSY and H end-group NMR analyses.
