Objective: Dysregulation of lipid metabolism can be one of the pathophysiological mechanisms linking high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) dysfunction to obesity. The aim of the study is to show possible changes in lipid metabolism with atherogenic indices in obese patients after sleeve gastrectomy (SG) surgery.
Method: Thirty patients who had SG surgery for obesity were included in the prospective study.
Aim: To study the associations between risk factors, clinical characteristics, severity of brachiocephalic artery (BCA) atherosclerosis and severity of coronary artery (CA) disease in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Material And Methods: The study included patients with any type of ACS and obstructive coronary artery disease confirmed by coronary angiography. A quantitative analysis of coronary angiography data was performed with an assessment of the number of CAs with significant stenosis and calculation of the SYNTAX score.

Background And Aim: Probiotics play an important role in the control and treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Kefir drink is a fermented beverage and has indicated some beneficial health effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of kefir drink on liver aminotransferases, anthropometric indices, glycemic index, lipid profile, blood pressure (BP), high sensitivity C-reactive protein, and malondialdehyde in patients with NAFLD.

Alterations of plasma lipoprotein levels and oxidative stress are frequently observed in obese patients, including low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (HDL-C) levels and alterations of HDL composition. Dysfunctional HDL with lower antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties have also been demonstrated in obesity. There is increasing evidence that white adipose tissue (WAT) participates in several metabolic activities and modulates HDL-C levels and function.
