Background: Elevated blood pressure (BP) is a component of the metabolic syndrome (MetS), and one third of individuals with hypertension simultaneously have MetS. However, the evidence is still unclear regarding the predictive ability of BP for incident MetS.

Methods: In total, 5,809 Koreans without baseline MetS were grouped by baseline systolic (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) and monitored for 10 years to identify incident MetS. A Cox proportional hazards model was used to evaluate the HR and 95% CI for MetS according to SBP and DBP. Subgroup analysis was conducted in the normotensive population based on a new guideline of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.

Results: High-BP groups tended to have worse metabolic profiles than the lowest-BP group in both SBP and DBP categories. In all of the participants, elevated SBP and DBP levels were significantly associated with the increased HR for MetS, even after adjusting for covariates. Subgroup analysis for normotensive participants indicated that the HR for MetS increased proportionally to both SBP (<110 mm Hg: reference, 110-119 mm Hg: HR = 1.60 [95% CI 1.40-1.84], and 120-129 mm Hg: HR = 2.12 [95% CI 1.82-2.48]) and DBP levels (<70 mm Hg: reference, 71-74 mm Hg: HR = 1.31 [95% CI 1.09-1.58], and 75-79 mm Hg: HR = 1.51 [95% CI 1.25-1.81]).

Conclusion: The risk of incident MetS increased proportionally to baseline SBP and DBP, and this was identically observed even in normotensive participants.

A novel exercise protocol for cardiac rehabilitation aerobic (CRA) has been developed by Hebei Sport University, demonstrating efficacy in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of CRA on precise cardiac rehabilitation (CR) for CHD patients presenting with stable angina pectoris. The study cohort comprised patients with stable angina who were categorized into three groups: the CRA group (n = 35), the power bicycles (PB) group (n = 34), and the control group (n = 43).

This study assessed the therapeutic effectiveness of a single-pill combination (SPC) of olmesartan/amlodipine plus rosuvastatin for blood pressure (BP) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in patients with hypertension and dyslipidemia. Adult patients with hypertension and dyslipidemia who were decided to be treated with the study drug were eligible. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients who achieved BP, LDL-C and both BP and LDL-C treatment goals at weeks 24-48.

Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the effect of anti-inflammatory biological drugs (adalimumab, infliximab and rituximab) on the cardiovascular system during the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Methods: Involved in research 70 women aged 18 to 60 years with a confirmed diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (diagnosis confirmed by the American College of Rheumatology 2010 (ACR) and European League of Rheumatology (EULAR) classification criteria). Patients on standard treatment and biological drugs were divided into 3 groups, and the third group was divided into two subgroups.

This study analyzed the acute and time-course changes following one resistance training (RT) set (1SET) and three sets (3SET) on hemodynamic and physical performance parameters in individuals with different cognitive impairment levels. Thirty-nine individuals (22 women and 17 men aged 80 ± 9 years) grouped by cognitive impairment (mild [MILD], moderate [MOD], and severe [SEV]) randomly performed two protocols, each separated by one week, of 1SET or 3SET of 10 repetitions. Before (PRE), immediately (POST), and 72 h after (POST72) protocols, the participants performed the following measurements: systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), heart rate (HR), 1-kg medicine ball throw (MBT) distance, five-repetition sit-to-stand (STS) time, and handgrip strength (HGS).

Objective: This paper presents a novel dual-branch framework for estimating blood pressure (BP) using photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals. The method combines deep learning with clinical prior knowledge and models different time periods (morning, afternoon, and evening) to achieve precise, cuffless BP estimation.

Approach: Preprocessed single-channel PPG signals are input into two feature extraction branches.
