The intensive care unit (ICU), a data-rich setting, faces challenges with high-frequency, unstructured monitor data. Here, we showcase a successful example of a data pipeline to efficiently move patient data to the cloud environment for structured storage.

Background: Caribbean populations face complex health issues related to diet and food security as they undergo a rapid nutrition transition, resulting in some of the world's highest number of premature deaths from noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Despite policy efforts to promote local and regional food consumption, reliance on food imports remains high with many Caribbean countries importing more than 80% of their food from larger economies. Previous regional research revealed the importance of food sharing practices in the Caribbean, with implications for the consumption of local foods, food security, and community resilience against climate change.

Investigation of sound pressure waveforms helps the selection of appropriate metrics to evaluate their effects on marine life in relation to noise thresholds. As marine animals move farther away from a sound source, the temporal characteristics of sound pressure may be influenced by interactions with the sediment and the sea surface. Sound pressure kurtosis and root-mean-square (rms) sound pressure are quantitative characteristics that depend on the shape of a sound pulse, with kurtosis related to the qualitative characteristic "impulsiveness.
